Earlier in this thread in Posts 490, 493, 497, 506, 532, 538, & 539 so far....Refrigerant R744 is mentioned with respect to the Trudeau Carbon Tax fund giving Loblaw's $12,000,000,00 of our tax dollars to upgrade their freezers in their stores to combat global warming or whatever, and nobody (Myself intentionally so far) seems have googled R744 & posted what it is to see what the Hell our tax dollars given to Loblaws have purchased and why in light of a CARBON Tax to reduce CARBON.

R744 is environmentally friendly, having zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and minimal GWP (Global Warming Potential). It also has excellent thermodynamic properties and low energy usage making it suitable for a range of applications such as industrial heat extraction, chilled warehousing, shipping vessels, commercial refrigeration, and mobile air conditioning.
But what is R744 that will be used in these industrial freezers that we're buying for the Weston Family? What're the environmental rules for its disposal in Canada? What is this magical substance having zero Ozone Depletion Potential & minimal Global Warming Potential (?) that the Carbon Tax Liberal Party Donator Slush Fund is gifting to Loblaws our Tax Dollars to replace its freezers with the new ones using this refrigerant to lower its Carbon Footprint?

R744 (CO2) is refrigerant grade CO2, used as a replacement for R134a and R404A in ultra-low, low and medium temperature refrigeration applications. R744 (CO2) is becoming increasingly popular due to its excellent properties. With an Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) of 0 and a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 1, R744 (CO2) is a natural refrigerant. This is the irony. This is the punchline I've been waiting for someone else to discover and enjoy the inside joke and to share the laugh. R744 is one of the evils (or not so evil evils) that the CARBON Tax is punishing us for to change our ways with punitive financial incentives to reduce.....& it has zero Ozone Depletion Potential & minimal Global Warming Potential.

We're being Hoodwinked! I'd ask how much more hypocritical the Liberal Party & their CARBON Tax can get but they next scandal will just raise the bar further.

Re R744: I don't see this alleged joke or any punchline. There's too much CO2 in the atmosphere (unless you deny that) and we're constantly producing more. Some of it could be used as a closed-system refrigerant; well why not? It would replace the use of - what? - I don't know what's currently used since freon was banned.

I'll admit to having an odd sense of humour but where's the joke?

POOR RON........................he must have been sniffing the refrigerant and is now befuddled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I see it.........................THE KEY to the Loblaws freezer deal is this:::::::::::;

That LOBLAWS will SAVE 23 percent on its electricity bills thanks to the new freezers that OUR tax money bought for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LIE-berals are trying to make us insulate our homes and small businesses so we can also save on energy........................

BUT ALWAYS GREEDY LIE-berals expect the rest of us to PAY BOTH for the Loblaws GIFT AND for our own needs as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO LIE-beral has explained WHY Loblaws should have privileges the rest of us are DENIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THAT is the TRUE HOODWINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That FRIENDS of LIE-berals ALWAYS DO BETTER THAN THE REST OF US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you really are new here aren't you?
OK, where to start. The two of you (assuming the two of you are two of you) don't see the irony of Trudeau & the Justinites taxing Canadians with a CARBON Tax to get the average Canadian to use or produce less CARBON in a financially punitive manner, and using these funds to reward Loblaw a gift of $12 Million of our tax dollars to replace their freezers with new ones using R744? You two honestly don't see the hypocrisy here? R744 being a safe and natural alternative to most other refrigerants and it happens to be an environmentally fantastic choice comparatively....& it's the exact thing (C02) that the rest of us are to be punished for? This being a refrigerant that, as long as it's in a well ventilated area at the time, can be safely ventilated into the atmosphere when needed, when the 'closed system' needs maintenance or no longer is a 'closed system' because of its properties of being a substance with an Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) of 0 and a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 1.

Seriously, pick one. Either it's an evil, or it's not. Or is it an evil for the little people but not for the Weston Family and other Substantial Political Financial Contributors? By the way, Freon isn't banned, but it is regulated and can only be purchased by a Tech and not the general public so you have to hire someone to recharge your air conditioner or refrigerator (not a bad thing in my opinion) as opposed to doing it yourself. Freon is one of many refrigerants commercially currently available. Anyway, doesn't this ring like Al Gore telling us to reduce our CARBON Footprint from his twenty room mansion?

You 'know' there's too much C02 in the atmosphere because someone told you so (?) or you know this because you've done your homework as a Layman (sorry, Trudeau likes Laypeople) to look at the geologic atmospheric record (we all have Google), and have looked at whether or not C02 raises temperatures or whether when temperatures raise then C02 concentration levels later raise (as an effect, not a cause)?? Have you researched or regurgitated this claim?

PS As yet I don't see where the Weston Family & Loblaw is contributing directly to the Liberal Party (or the Trudeau Foundation), but to the NDP in its smear campaign against the Conservative Party, and the enemy of your enemy....gets 12 Million dollars for new refrigerators it seems....

POOR RON........................he must have been sniffing the refrigerant and is now befuddled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. We're both sniffing this refrigerant as it's also a trace gas (about 0.03% so 3/10000th of the total make up) in our atmosphere. All of us are. I would be no more befuddled than you or anyone else from it.
  2. I understand what you & I both post. Do you?

Is the CARBON Tax you've been paying since 2008 or something saving the planet (?) or changing anything positively (?), or is it just a suck on your wallet?
A suck on our wallet , a suck on school boards and health regions and a boom for Washington State border towns .

I'm sure you enjoy your own sarcasm, Ron; relish and giggle at your attempts to belittle other members. All of that aside, do you know whether the refrigerant in question is made from CO2 that alrerady exists in the atmosphere - or is it manufactured 'extra'? I don't know but I'm asking as a serious question. If you can't treat it as such, and me with civility, I ask you to please execute a copulatory departure.

Most of the things I believe, if I can't observe them directly, have come to me through reading and other kinds of 'hearsay'. That's true for everyone; almost nobody has the capability to personally perform widespread scientific research. Including plenty of scientists and other 'experts'.

Now about the source of CO2 used in refrigerants - do you know? I don't and I wouldn't specially care if you weren't going on about it so much :).

In all honesty I've never thought of the question as to whether the C02 used as a refrigerant is manufactured or reclaimed from what it already available. I'm assuming it would be easier to reclaim it than to manufacture it, but currently that's just an assumption.

I'm not a scientist (& have never represented myself as one), but I do have access to the internet, & I have looked into many many things as it captures my interest or if something sets off my BS detector. The information is out there if you want to dig for it. I do enjoy debate and came to this forum about a decade ago to learn more about the AGW Topic, and used this forum as one of many resources to learn more about the subject. Each of us has to find their own path to enlightenment on each subject, and when you hear something that you question, hunt down our own answer.

Here's an interesting guy being interviewed by Joe Rogan. Geological Layman with training in a different discipline, but with an interest he pursued for 40yrs so far.

You should hunt down research highlight and present it in a non aggressive way devoid of rhetoric or irony, be on hand to explain and research any questions that may arise from the information that you present /sarcasm lol
