Excellent move.

All Canadian parents have been asking for this and the government is delivering on their election promise.

$10 a day child care for Canadian families

Too many families in Canada lack access to affordable, inclusive, and high-quality child care. This is an economic issue as much as it is a social one. Without access to child care, parents – especially women – cannot fully participate in the economy, and the global COVID-19 pandemic has brought these issues to the forefront. As part of our commitment to support a recovery that brings all Canadians along, the Government of Canada wants to ensure that quality and affordable regulated child care spaces are available to all families who need it.

So who pays? Those of us on pensions have sunny vacations to pay for. Also we raised our kids and mostly our grandkids as well. All with out government help. Are the breeders of today to lazy to look after their own offspring? Maybe they should learn about birth control if they can't afford kids.

Yeah, much better than making life more affordable so you don't NEED to have two incomes.

As for the whiny bullshit about "Without access to child care, parents – especially women – cannot fully participate in the economy". Too bad. Wanna have a kid? Great, then be a fucking parent instead of letting strangers raise them for the next 18 goddam years. This problem in fact is the result of Women's Lib. I'm not blaming them, they were just the unwitting catalyst, What I mean is, when you look at the period in time when women started entering the "permanent" work force in record numbers and in jobs that weren't "traditional" women's jobs, that's when the prices of everything started getting out of hand and wages started falling way behind those price increases. Manufacturers and retailers cottoned on pretty quick to double income households while seeming to forget that in order for those double income households to buy shit, they still need to be able to afford it.

Govts didn't help when they removed rent controls while making it a fuck-ton harder to actually try and save for retirement. They have at times, actually discouraged people from saving their money and exhorted them to spend, spend, spend instead. Govt's lackadaisical attitudes towards their own debts has given the impression to far too many people that crushing, insurmountable debt is no biggie.

Before Trudeau Sr, one of the Liberal mantras was "The govt is not responsible for the financial well-being of the individual. That responsibility lays upon the individual and/or their family." That being said, govt's shouldn't be doing shit that negatively impacts an individual's financial well-being either.

You really think True Dope has a switch on his desk labelled "Make Everything Wonderful," and he's just smirking and refusing to flip it to spite you, don't you?

You little screed was telling. You actually think women should be limited to being secretaries, teachers, nurses, or homemakers so life can be better for real people, i.e., men, don't you?

Ha, we pay. All Canadians will pay. Interesting how the largest families are often those already on some sort f social assistance?? (MyOpinion)
Our parents raised us without government support and don't even try to say times were different. because yes, while they were, proportionality, the difficulty was the same.
I raised my kids without government support and yes, it was hard but we did it. We had to make decisions that made us do without the vacations down south. We had to set priorities.
Having said that, I guess it is my parents fault somewhat and somewhat my fault because they and we made things easier for our kids and now they just expect easy.

Um, Trudie wasn't PM when all this shit started. He was still busy yammering about how Canada works better when Quebecers are in charge and that Canada belongs to Quebec. Meanwhile, simply spritzing some perfume on shit doesn't make it smell better.

Screed? Yeah, a little trip back in history is a screed. And suggesting that parents should actually be responsible for raising their own kids? Holy shit Jack, lock me away. CLEARLY I have no morals or ethics. I'm spreading dangerous, extremist ideas like personal responsibility/parental responsibility.

Go play your stupid shit lawyer games with someone else.

Okay, I think you're a fucking douche nozzle. I think you're a hypocritical piece of human excrement, probably dropped from Groper's ass. Which explains why your tongue is always up there. I think you're disingenuous and about as fake as a three dollar bill. I think you should be the worldwide poster boy for birth control. Well you and comrade Justin Castro.

And I quote. . . "This problem in fact is the result of Women's Lib."

Yeah, no screed there. Just a terrified old man harking back to the good ol' days that never existed.

I do truly wish we could set up an area, maybe a state and half a province, as Conservativeland, where everybody who wanted to could move and live in the 1950s. Just one rule: If you opt in, you can't come back.

How true. "Good ole days that never existed."
Back in the day.... it was as hard to keep up, rent or buy, raise a family, pay the bills as it is today.
Sick and tired of hearing the younger generations saying it was easier in the "good ole days" because it was not.

Actually, that's not what was said.
