not you, obviously. I just thought I'd clarify what "refused to surrender" means.

you make it sound like you were there. glad you made it back in one piece.

Not me, I was speaking as a member of the larger community. :)

I'm an old man. 52 in two weeks.

I have to admit, I sometimes wish I was 30 years younger, so I could join and sidestep the criticism you are hinting at in your post.

It is a fair one.

So we just forget about Pakistan and Saudi Arabia because their nationals weren't present on September 11/2001?

The gauge of culpability is being there to commit the atrocity as opposed to the those who gave the orders and who financed the operation?

It's enough that an XYZ person committed this violent act of terrorism so everyone even vaguely resembling XYZ types are therefore and for all time automatically terrorists and thugs?

Would that apply to Abu Ghraib or the crews who toxified the soil of Southeast Asia?

You seem to be a little sidetracked with this issue.

If I remember correctly, most of the hijackers (murderers) were Saudi nationals.

The point is both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia moved against terror organizations in their nations, however reluctantly.

Afghanistan refused. If they had turned over Osama et. al. they would still be happily hanging women for showing their wrists in public.

Mind you, given the power (which the US DOES NOT have), I would happily see Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Syria all occupied.

I don't like fascists, be they secular or Islamic.

I was talking about for instance a Vietnamese family raising a deformed child...should they hold America responsible or just people who fly airplanes?

As the U.S. military loves to use depleted uranium and has almost the same affection for land mines, if we applied the logic of "we know where they came from and we know who they are so let slip the dogs of war and....

Is this opinion the best product of a considered history or is it just quick and easy to let fly nonesense off the top of your head?

No need to be an arsehole now, I already said it was a fair criticism.

I think getting on your knees before Islamofascists is pathetic.

I think the western world's self-hatred is pathetic.

I think your inherent need to be anonymously nasty is pathetic,

Among other things.

AND I don't work in a cubicle..........

If you are saying that Saudi Arabia should have been held responsible for encouraging radical Islam, I can see your point. BUT, they did come around, and I don't believe you are all for declaring war except as a last resort, are you?

Ditto Pakistan and the Madrasses.

I do Bitways, you come into a discussion and add nothing but "Rude' one liners. Are you incapable of typing a sentence or is CC on your "Trolling" list. You are a nasty piece of work and rude. I have no issue with someone having a differing opinion but you seem incapable of rendering anything but insults. Nasty, nasty.

I wasn't asking you. I was asking Colpy the same thing he asked me, only unlike him I didn't shout.

"nothing but one liners"?

you lie.

BitWhys - Thanks for the link.

So basically, the way i see it, there was never any proof of anything and Oct 17, 2001 Canada joined the US in the "Operation Apollo" to fight terrorism. Chretien saying Operation Apollo would "defend the values and principles of free and civilized people everywhere."

That doesn't sit well with me.
This just seems wrong.

Can anyone shed some light here?

wasn't my link

fwiw, I actually agreed with the invasion but not for the reasons they were giving going in. the condition of Afghanistan at the time made it a prime candidate for action under Responsibility to Protect - even if R2P wasn't even formulated then. what its become is another matter. (so's R2P) Going in under poorly formed pretext didn't help things.

Oh sorry there Bitwhy's.

I mean to thank GWiz.

I would support us being there to help but not to reform! That just futile. Here's something else. Why are people in here so snooty???? My goodness. People can't have an opinion unless it's the "right' opinion. That's so BS!!

That's part of the reason why i stopped coming here in the first place. Now, a couple of months later, it seems people have just gotten worse!!

I don't understand. Why can't people just repect other people?

That would be pleasant but we have some participants who appear to favor personalizing arguments as opposed to passionately discussing a topic.

I find myself becoming more caustic as I continue to participate and I find that horrid in other people so have to work on remembering to be nice....

Ah, Bit Whys, you've sparked my interest......and perhaps kicked my "half a brain" into some semblence of action.............I can remember somebody as needlessly caustic as yourself..............you didn't once get roughed up at a Reform Party rally, did you?

BTW "WHO CARES" can hardly be interpreted as a personal attack except by someone with a serious persecution complex.
