So school aged children in Canada have to pay to attend public schools?
Canada allows immigrants to starve or would that be a new policy?
EMERSON, Manitoba (Reuters) - Jaime French was jarred out of bed in Emerson, Manitoba early one morning this month by pounding at her front door, just yards from the U.S. border. A face peered in through the window, flanked in the darkness by others.
Outside were 16 asylum seekers, arriving at one of the first houses they saw after crossing a lightly monitored border between Canada and the United States.
"They banged pretty hard, then 'ring ring ring' the doorbell," said French, a mother of two young girls. "It was scary. That really woke me up."
Oh the silence... the absolute silence.
*snicker*
Yeah, I'm proposing a new policy. If the parents can find support themselves in Canada, then give the kids free education. If not, unless we have reason to believe that they are legitimate Convention refugees, send them back home.
It would be easy really. If they can't support themselves, all they have to do is show up at their local travel agency... er, I mean immigration office. the officer will explain, if they take the flight ticket, they get free room and board right away at a local detention centre until the flight date.
One immigrant thinks about it for a moment. His friend allows him to sleep on the sofa and feeds him for free for now and he believes that he can find a job if given time. Maybe the local food bank helps a bit too.
The other immigrant listens to his growling stomach and thinks, good deal.
So one walks out of the office alone and the other is taken to the local detention centre.
The only question remaining with the one who walks out is, will he find work or will his friend get tired of him, kick him out, and he'll be back at the immigration centre again to take them up on the offer. See how easy that is?
