DONT forget Canada also sent cruise ships to pick them up and on board they complained about the level of service.

Most Lebononese came here during a certain period of time of turmoil in their country, but they only stayed in Canada long enough to get a passport, then they went back to Lebonon and only coining back to Canada when they needed Healthcare care.

A lot of these Lebononese are now still living in Lebonon, retired, and collecting Canadian AOS pension in Lebonon.
We are very generous .

Those 'poor, hard done by' refugees all look pretty well dressed and well fed. They come with baby carriers, blankets, down jackets, hats, mitts and boots. I think the only help they need is help to get whatever the hell they're looking for but to get that first they'll have to decide what that is.
They get to one country and then they think another country would be better so off they go.

hard done by? why are you assuming they're poor?

They're looking for safety...

No, they are safe in the US and in their country, that's why they got $$ to travel to the US and to buy clothing and stuff.

They are looking for a free ride from Canadians because the US is wise enough not to give it to them.

Safety from what? If they are living within the law, causing no trouble how are they being threatened?
What kind of dummies get in a panic over what they think might happen sometime in the future?
They'd be better off staying where they came from and keeping under the radar.

I know its easy for those who've lived in a relatively drama free country to assume that all people must have the same experiences and therefore respond like how they themselves assume they'd respond, but that simply aint' the case

If I were from Sudan and in the states illegal I'd sure as f' get myself to Canada before being sent back there. Or Syrian, or Somalian, or etc etc etc

maybe those who've seen some pretty horrendous things happen with little to no warning feel the need to move quickly before they are deported back to your country where they can be tortured for leaving in the first place, or starve or bombed or killed because they are gay / wrong religion / wrong class? why not move before that can happen?

They should work to fix their own sh^thole country just like all other western countries have done.

These people are just free loaders plain and simple.

How many muzzies in our military prepared to fight to defend Canadian values??? ANS, just a couple.

When that soldier got shot in Ottawa, many Canadians lined up to join the military, except for the muzzies, they tried to fly to Turkey to join ISIS.

Yeah, sure, protect them eh????

Convention refugees aside, give them work, student, and business visas. If they swim, they stay. If not, they go.

Start the presses... you're going to need a lot of visas, jobs, and classroom seating.

Not really. Most probably can't afford school, few could find work, and maybe some could start a business. Once they start to starve, most would be knocking on the government's door begging to be sent back home.

So school aged children in Canada have to pay to attend public schools?

Canada allows immigrants to starve or would that be a new policy?

EMERSON, Manitoba (Reuters) - Jaime French was jarred out of bed in Emerson, Manitoba early one morning this month by pounding at her front door, just yards from the U.S. border. A face peered in through the window, flanked in the darkness by others.

Outside were 16 asylum seekers, arriving at one of the first houses they saw after crossing a lightly monitored border between Canada and the United States.

"They banged pretty hard, then 'ring ring ring' the doorbell," said French, a mother of two young girls. "It was scary. That really woke me up."

Oh the silence... the absolute silence.

*snicker*
