For 28 years smoking on B.C. Ferries has been restricted to a small remote area on the outer deck away from anyone not wanting to be subjected to cigarette smoke. Now it's completely banned anywhere on the boats or at the terminals. Just another example of bloody mindedness that reaps absolutely no benefit to anyone. P.S. I don't smoke.

Yeah, what about the freedoms of those who don't smoke..

You want to poison yourself, you're free to do it.. in the comfort of your own home.

I doubt very much if the non smokers would frequent the remote confined area on the outer deck where smokers would congregate.

What will prove interesting is how it will apply to medical pot. Will BCF have the right to deny people their medicine? This isn't just shipboard, it applies to all BCF properties.

They can chew their tobacco. :)

It's just a further erosion of people's freedoms.

A person's right to smoke stops at my nostrils, thank you very much.

They can consume in tea and other forms, can't they?

I think so, providing they have it in tea form with them. I don't really know if you can keep the dosage constant in tea form. My experience is all recreational.I always viewed the health part as a fringe benefit. People from the islands would certainly be aware of how to deal with the rules but anyone else in the world could run into trouble. Especially when several times EVERY year some flatlander asks a crew member how far above sea level they are while crossing Georgia Straight.

For all you idiots that have comprehension problems, read the highlighted part of the OP.

Not very much medical weed is prescribed to be smoked.

If you think I'm going to wade through all of that, think again. If you have a particular link to prove your point, then post it. Otherwise, fu ck off with your sanctimonious bullshit.

Actually it's right in the middle of the deck-something you'd know if you actually ever rode the ferry.

Hey, Einstein - I lived on Vancouver Island for roughly 45 years and have ridden virtually every ferry from Victoria to Prince Rupert as well as the ones on the Sunshine Coast and two or three on Kootenay Lake and some no longer in existence. You mention the ferry. I've ridden at least 25 different ferries including the old Aerial Tram at Boston Bar many times.

Not the Kootenay ferry old timer BC Ferries.

FYI-I'm on BC Ferries at least once a month for work plus fishing trips to Vancouver Island I know those ships like that back of my hand.

Here try and educate your wretched self

I've also ridden every ferry on Kootenay Lake - there's at least three there, two out of Balfour!
P.S. I forgot a couple across Puget Sound & a couple more on Arrow Lakes.

You're a barrel of laughs! How many times have you rode the old Cy Peck or the one to Cortes Island or the one from Kelsey Bay to Beaver Cove or the one to Lasqueti Island? Every ferry is different but on most of the ones I've ridden on you could generally find a place to smoke where you weren't bothering anyone. Perhaps you are familiar with the A.J.Savoie!
