Cubs and Jays would be a nice series to watch.

I'll cheer for your Cubbies if you cheer for my Jays, Ludlow.............then we may very well get a chance to meet in the World Series and wouldn't that be great.

Blah, blah, blah. I'm a real-live Red Man. Keep the damn logo. Keep the Redskins name. We got other things to worry about.

How nice of you to take the time out from your busy schedule to contribute to our Blue Jays topic, Tec. Your comments will be duly noted. BTW............how are your Ravens doing this year?

The Jays bats have been hot and cold all season. Unfortunately the funk of the latter can last long enough to turf them out of the series. I think at they're best they are the best hitting and fielding team in baseball.. it's consistency that is the issue. Go Jays.

The Jays bats have been hot and cold all season. Unfortunately the funk of the latter can last long enough to turf them out of the series. I think at they're best they are the best hitting and fielding team in baseball.. it's consistency that is the issue. Go Jays.

I was nervous about yesterday's game even before it started for some unknown reason - yet today I'm feeling quite positive about our chances of evening the series. Just hope JA can cut down the number of singles he allows even though his Houdini-like ability to get himself out of trouble is impressive it's hard on my blood pressure. He gave up 6 against Texas, if memory serves me right. Half that number would be good though 0 would be ideal.

The batters know what they have to do. It is what helped them win the Wild Card and the ALDS - small ball, advance the runners and use the homers to score multiple runners. Oh and sterling defense - no errors.

GO JAYS GO :canada:

Ludlow's Cubbies will be hosting the Giants in Game 1 of their series today. The game will be broadcast on Sportsnet at 5PM PST

GO CUBBIES GO!

CORRECTION: Justin Smoak will be replacing Devon Travis at 2B

Strike 1 to Josh then he hits one to the glove of the infielder - 2 away

Top of the 5th

Kevin out on 1 pitch after a dribble to Tomlin who fields it and makes it to first to beat the run for 1 away
Darwin strikes out - 2 away
Zeke takes strike 1........strike 2..........ball in the dirt........and swings through strike 3 for the final out

The only thing keeping my hopes alive is the close score - one runs ties and another wins the game. We can't let Cleveland get anymore runs

Oh dear.........Andrew Miller is on the mound for Cleveland
Russell sitting at 2 and 2 fouls the next pitch off.......then swings through the next pitch over the plate for strike 3
Melvin behind 1 and 2.....doesn't like the last call but it was a strike.......fouls the next pitch back......holds up on a low ball.......then strikes out on the next pitch for the 2nd out
Kevin takes a strike..........checks his bat but takes strikes 2................and Miller strikes out the side

I sure give a lot of credit to Terry Francona - he's been spot on with his use of the pitching order. No faulting Gibby - the pitchers aren't our problem - the lack of runs is the problem.

The crowd might be killing us. The clevland crowd is quite into it.

We've played through much worse, Johnny - the fans aren't the problem

Bottom of the 7th

Joe gets 2 quick outs on nice plays by the outfield gets ahead of Perez 1 and 2.............then throws a ball in the dirt for an even count......but catches him swinging for strike 3............good inning for Joe - got the job done

Whoa.............I just checked the Riders game with TO and my guys are up 29 - 3 with just over 8 minutes left in the 4th Q - Rock on Riders!!!

Bottom of the 8th

Osuna is out for the inning
Davis gets a ball and misses on two strikes..........fouls back.......fouls back again........ball in the dirt......even count........fouls back......Roberto has thrown 7 pitches so far.............and Joey comes charging in and snags a low fly ball for the first out
Kipness grounds out to Eddy at first - 2 away
Lindor swings and misses for strike 1............and does it again for 0 and 2........then takes a ball outside.....and bobbles one to Osuna for the out at first

Top of the 9th

Codey Allen in for Cleveland
Eddy gets ball 1 then takes strike 1............ball outside........swings through stirke 2.............gets and other ball...........fouls one down the right side...........3 and 2...............and gets called on strike 3 - 1 away
Joey takes a ball outside...........checks his swing for ball 1...........ball outside for 2 and 1.......fouls one back..........and strikes out on the fourth pitch for 2 away

Last chance for any hope lies in the hands of Tulo who flies out on the first pitch and the Indians take Game 2

Native Americans could not care less about that shyt.

That's the ironic part of it.

This Bullsh*t reminds me of an old "fixture" on Granville St. in Vancouver, originally from Eastern Europe known for his perogies and answered to the moniker of "Hunky Bill". Some interfering old women got together and wanted to make the use of the term "Hunky Bill" a criminal act.............highly ethically distasteful. Bill didn't give sh*t, he used the term himself. Oh Ludlow...........your Cubbies just went bananas wracking up 5 RBIs and lead 8 - 3 bottom of the 8th.

They were hanging on to a 2 run lead until the Dodgers tied it top of the 8th.........very fortuitous time for the bats to come alive.

Yee Haw.................Cubbies win Game 1 8 - 4.......well done Chicago.

Advocate seeks Ontario ban on Cleveland Indians logo, name
By Kevin Connor, Toronto Sun
First posted: Saturday, October 15, 2016 06:03 PM EDT | Updated: Saturday, October 15, 2016 06:34 PM EDT
A prominent advocate for aboriginal peoples wants the Cleveland Indians’ name and logo banned in Ontario.
Douglas Cardinal, an officer of the Order of Canada and a renowned First Nations architect, has an application before the Ontario Superior Court and complaints filed with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Canadian Human Rights Commission saying the team name and logo is racist and discriminatory.
Chief Wahoo — a red-skinned, horse-toothed caricature used as a team logo — is disrespectful and discriminatory, the complaint says.
Cardinal has had enough, lawyer Michael Swinwood said.
“Canadian law clearly prohibits discrimination of this nature,” he said.
“It also violates my client’s right to equal treatment and the rights of indigenous peoples across Canada and everywhere else the name and logo are used.”
On Monday, there will be a hearing on Cardinal’s application before the Superior Court.
“Douglas Cardinal is also a baseball fan and he and people like him should not be subject to racial discrimination in the provision of a service, which is occurring in this case,” Swinwood said.
It’s a complicated legal matter with jurisdictional issues, said Renu Mandhane, chief commissioner with the Ontario Human Rights Commission.
“The issue is whether the team name creates a poisoned environment for indigenous people attending the game — when used in Ontario if it creates a barriers (for aboriginal people) accessing services at the Rogers Centre, and whether the mascot caricature incites discrimination,” Mandhane said.
Last week, Toronto Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro, a former executive with the Cleveland team for decades, said he was personally bothered by the Chief Wahoo caricature to the point he distanced himself from the logo.
Foe 20 years, Blue Jays play-by-play announcer Jerry Howarth hasn’t used terms like Braves or Indians as he feels they are disrespectful to First Nations communities.

yes, the pitchers will decide what team wins this series, one way or the other.

Beginning to look as though that's the way the Cubs vs Dodgers games might go too.

There's been a bit of controversy over the umping of the games ....

Now I don't believe Gibby ever said that..............or maybe he did and that's why he got turfed a time or two.......I'd high-five him had he done so, because truly the umping sucked at times and, as Joey pointed out, it affected both teams.

Oh.....BTW.........that law suit.......

Lawsuit regarding Indians' name, logo dismissed
By Jordan Bastian / MLB.com | @MLBastian | an hour ago

TORONTO -- The Indians will not be barred from using their team name or logo in Toronto during the American League Championship Series, following a ruling by an Ontario judge on Monday.

Douglas Cardinal, who is a Canadian architect and an activist on behalf of indigenous people, filed a lawsuit against the ballclub, among others, ahead of Game 3 of the ALCS. The application was dismissed by Ontario Superior Court Justice Tom McEwen after a hearing on Monday. Cardinal argued to have the team's name and logo immediately banned from use in the province of Ontario.

Now that sanity has been restored we can sit back and watch some October baseball. GO JAYS!

Marcus Stroman is on the mound for the Jays

And he of the drone incident - that's quite the cut on his pinkie - Trevor Bauer will do the honors for the Indians.

The looks on some of the Cleveland teams faces when the fans were accompanying the singing of Oh Canada was priceless - Indians have a bit of problem filling Progressive Field and here they are faced with some 50,000 fans. You go Blue Jays fans. Rock the house for the Jays...........no missiles on the field.

They were just saying that Trevor, according to the rules, is not allowed to wear a bandage over his wound. I guess they figure it will give him some magical advantage - hope they sprayed it well with polysporin and keep treating it during the game.

And here we go

Top of the 1rst

Santana at the plate takes 3 consecutive balls before Marcus finds the strike zone ............then takes a walk on ball 4.....I think Marcus is a tad nervous

Kipness up and Marcus finds the strike zone on the first pitch, follows that with a ball inside, then gets him to fly out to Kevin - 1 away

Now Lindor comes to the plate............swings and misses on a breaking ball from Marcus............tips the next pitch foul.......and he goes down swinging to a multitude of cheers from the fans - 2 away

Napoli swings through the first pitch............takes a low ball.........and hits one off the wall that scores Santana and he lands on 2nd

Indians on the board first

Rameriz takes a ball outside, then a ball in the dirt, and flies out to Zeke

Cleveland 1

Bottom of the 1rst

Joey leads off the batting order......holds off and takes strike 1.........ball1, ball 2, swings through strike 2, checks his bat......and goes down on a perfect pitch across the plate ..........looking - 1 away

JD takes ball1 outside......fouls the next pitch to the seats......ball 2, ball 3 and draws a walk

Eddy takes strike1...........ball inside........high strike 2.......and Eddy flies out to center-field - 2 away

Tulo takes strike 1..........ball 1 just outside........ball 2 outside the cage.......fouls the next pitch back........Trevor's finger is dripping blood fps..............and Tulo takes a walk

Terry is out to the mound.........they are trying to give the bullpen time to field another pitcher.......and that's it for Trevor.........the fans are cheering but I feel rather sorry for the kid........big moment for him and he can't play

So, we've got JD in scoring position at 2nd, Tulo at first and 2 away

Dan Otero has come to the mound for the Indians

Russell swings through strike 1, takes ball 1 then grounds out to second - 3 away

Top of the 2nd

Chisenhall takes first pitch and grounds to 2nd - 1 away
Crisp swings and takes strike 1 and follows that up with strike 2, takes a ball in the dirt,............low ball 2........ball 3.......fouls away.....and he draws a walk
Maitland to the plate draws ball 1.........Crisp steals 2nd on a no pitch.......gets strike 1..........swings through strike 2.......then flies out to Zeke - 2 away
Perez takes ball 1 outside...........fouls back........ball in the dirt bounces away from Russell and Crisp takes 3rd.........swings through strike 2........ball 3........fouls back........strike 3 is called and Marcus strands Perez

Bottom of the 2nd

Michael Saunders takes the first pitch and hits it outta the park.................Yeah Michael

And we is tied

Kevin takes two strikes, fouls the next pitch back, bops one to Otero on the mound for the first away
Zeke takes the first pitch outside.......swings and misses for strike 1......fouls back........fouls the next one away.......low ball 2.........fouls along the first base line.......work that pitcher Zeke...............fouls back to the seats.........ball 3...........and Zeke hits a bullet up the middle.............you go Zeke
Ryan next in the batting order..........grounds to 2nd and the Indians get the double play on 2nd and first and that's the inning

Top of the 3rd

Santana swings at the first pitch and Tulo nabs his fly ball for the first out
Kipness takes 2 balls then a low strike.........swings through strike 2..........fouls back.......fouls to left.....fouls back.......and grounds to second - 2 away
Lindor holds back and takes strike 1........and he grounds out to Ryan - 3 away...............much better inning for Marcus

Bottom of the 3rd

Jeff Manship on the mound for Cleveland

Joey up takes 2 ball and a strike, swings through strike 2 and walloops one to far left field.........bet that feels good Joey
JD takes ball 1........swings through a high strike 1......count even 2 and 2........and he hits a high pop-up to Napoli near the stands - 1 away
Eddy sits back on strike 1........ball outside.......he pops up to Kipness - 2 away
Tulo pops the first pitch up to 2nd - 3 away

Top of the 4th

So far, so good............we are getting some hits and we are able to get guys on base..........I don't expect blow outs - though anything can happen - 1 run can win the game

Napoli hits his second pitch out of the park

Cleveland 2 - Jays 1

Rameriz takes strike 1............ball outside......and grounds out to Goins - 1 away
Chisenhall out on 3 strikes - 2 away
Crips takes a ball outside.....2nd ball outside.........ball outside...........Marcus needs to find the strike zone..........and he squeaks one just inside cage for strike 1.........gets him swinging on strike 2.........and he grounds out to Goins for the last out

Bottom of the 4th

Russell takes 2 balls and a strike..........fouls back.......and just checks his swing on ball 3.....and couldn't check his next swing for the first out

Manship is off the mound and Zach McAllister is on for Cleveland .....apparently this is what the Jays were hoping for - that the Indians would burn through their bullpen

Michael up to bat..........fouls first pitch away..........ball 1 high........ball 2 outside.........and he flies out to Crisp deep in center-field - 2 away
Kevin takes the first pitch swinging for a strike............fouls back to the seats......and grounds out to third for 3 away

Top of the 5th

Maitland gets behind on 2 strikes..........ball just inside......fouls back.........and Marcus gets him looking - 1 away
Perez takes strike 1.........swings through strike 2...........takes a ball outside..........2nd ball outside.........and he pops up to Joey for the 2nd out
Santana to the plate..........takes strike 1............then a ball outside.......strike 2................and pops up to JD for the 3rd out........Marcus retired the side in order that time

Bottom of the 5th

Zeke takes strike 1............strike 2.........and hits one to the gap in center-field and the little guy makes it all around the bases to 3rd.............look a him go ...............he never stops and slides in safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ryan to the plate and he hits a grounder to first that scores Zeke

and we is tied again!!!!!!!!

Joey to the plate takes 2 ball and a strike with 1 away...........another ball outside.........and he flies out deep to left for the 2nd away
JD swings through strike 1.........ball 1 outside....and JD gets one on the ground for a base hit............way to go JD............
Eddy grounds to 3rd for the force and the inning is over

Top of the 6th

Kipness takes a ball and a strike.........ball 2.......fouls back........and he hits one out of the park to lead off the batting order

Indians 3 - Jays 2

Lindor behind 2 and 0 and he strikes out - 1 away
Napoli up........ball 1........ball 2......ball 3........strike 1...........strike 2.........fouls back.......and he draws a walk with only 1 away

Gibby coming to the mound and that will be it for Marcus.....

Joe Biagini on the mound

Rameriz takes 2 strikes then a ball...........fouls back.......ball 3.........Napoli steals 2nd on delayed throw to second on a ball in the dirt ..........Rameriz gets one down and Napoli scores.....Rameriz safe on 1rst with 1 away

Indians 4 - Jays 2............so much for a single run eh

Chisenhall takes strike 1........ball 1....foul at the plate........and flies out to Kevin - 2 away and Rameriz holds on first

Napoli takes a first pitch strike 1..........swings through strike 2............and Brett gets him swinging for the first out
Rameriz takes a ball outside.......and he flies out to Eddy - 2 away and Lindor is held on first
Chisenhall takes low ball 1............and Lindor steals 2nd on the next pitch which is strike 2 to Chisenhall.....call on the field is safe.....call under review...........and he's out........Russell made the throw in time and Tulo kept the tag on as Lindor's hands leave the base........for the final out

That should cheer the boys a bit

Bottom of the 8th

Eddy takes strike 1...........then grounds out to 2nd
Tulo takes 2 balls then a high strike.........ball down and away called a strike and goes out on called strike 3

Andrew Miller will come on for Cleveland...........all hope is lost methinks

Top of the 9th

Roberto strikes out the first batter, allows the next two on base, strikes out the 4th after getting behind 3 and 0 in the count then gets the 5th batter out on a grounder to first.
