The Jays lost today.

It happens.

Have you ever come East for a pro baseball game, Mowich? They're kind of fun and the Sky Dome (or The Rogers Centre or Tidy Bowl or whatever it is, this week) is a great place to watch a ball game.

The Jays had a bit of that 2 out magic and some luck working for them in the 3rd. They showed a lot of patience at the plate - that along with some really poor pitching had them on base with 4 walks - one of which scored a run as the bases were loaded. They sent 9 men to the plate in the inning. JD had a real pretty slide around the pitcher to beat him to the plate. JA had 2 solid innings at the plate. And they chased the starting pitcher off the plate - darn it, he was doing so well by the Jays........heh, heh, heh

Jays lead 4 zip bottom of the 3rd

After giving up a homer to ........who else but Aaron Judge in the 3rd - the only run by NY, JA got out of the 4th by retiring the line-up in order. Then came the 5th where things unraveled for JA as he worked himself into a bases loaded situation with Judge coming to the plate. A little trip to the mound by Pete Walker and Russell didn't seem to have worked as the count got to 3 and 2 - then with a beaut of fast ball he struck out Arron Judge. No harm, no foul JA.

BTW, I was mistaken in the number of walks granted to the Jays - it was only 3.

Going to the top of the 8th, Jays ahead 4 - 1. JA out of the game early in the 7th - good start for him 4 hits, one run: Leone and Beliveau finished off the inning.

3 up, 3 down for Ryan Tepera in the 8th - much better outing than last night for Ryan. He took Aaron Judge down swinging on a fast ball - that was the 3rd strike-out of the game for Aaron - so our pitchers held steady after the lone homer.

3 straight outs for Roberto in the 9th. Happ picks up the win and the Jays snap their losing streak. Good game by the Jays - happy to have something to cheer about. 4 - 1 the final.

Well, well..............the Jays won the series against the Yanks today. Roberto came in for the close with the score 7 - 6 for the Jays. He retired the first two batters, a hit got by Smokie at first then Aaron Judge came to the plate and once again, Roberto got him swinging and missing on strike 3 for the final out of the 9th. It was the 20th consecutive save for Roberto, his 21rst on the year.

It was another poor outing for Marco who started fairly well then just seemed to fall apart as the innings advanced. He ended up allowing 6 runs while giving up 5 hits and he was only in for 4 and 2/3rd innings.

On the other hand it was a great outing for Danny Barnes who picks up the win.

The Jays scored the winning run on the 4th walk issued by the Yankee pitcher with the bases loaded. The Jays hardly had to swing a bat - it was quite something to see all the guys walking to the bases, unhurried and unchallenged as the Yankees could only look on in shock. Hometown fans were not amused and made no effort to keep their feelings to themselves. The Yankees are not having a good time of it lately and this loss to the Jays must sting.

Good thing the Jays came through against the Yankees cause their next series against the Houston Astros is going to be a totally different matter.

Jays beat the Astros 7 - 2 today. Marcus picks up the win. Both JD and Tulo had homers. Good day for the guys.

Second year in a row that the All-Star game saw controversy over the singing of our National Anthem. I was completely put off by the singer right from the get-go. Besides the cringing while performing the anthem, she did a piss-poor job of singing - but when it got to the giggle after "God keep our land" - I was absolutely appalled. Here's an idea - forget the anthem altogether being that no one seems able to just straight up sing it without some sort of idiocy. The backlash she is getting is well deserved.

Oh no, O Canada yet again at baseball’s all star game.
The latest example of why anthems are an unnecessary distraction at sporting events came with the bizarre “performance” Calgary singer Jocelyn Alice gave of O Canada.
Of particular annoyance, Alice appeared to giggle after “God keep our Land,” prompting a startled response and apparent death stare from Jays first baseman Justin Smoak, who has heard the anthem plenty of times in his career.
In response to the backlash, Alice tweeted on Monday, "I giggled because I saw some fellow Canadians on the big screen and was overcome with excitement in that moment. I love my country. I am so proud to be Canadian."
The questionable rendition came a year after a rogue member of The Tenors decided to make up his own lyrics.
Remigio Pereira of The Tenors attracted plenty of online fury at last year's game in San Diego when he sang, "We're all brothers and sisters, all lives matter to the great," instead of, "With glowing hearts we see thee rise, the True North strong and free."
Pereira left The Tenors months later after the other members of the quartet said he'd acted as a "lone wolf" in a statement posted to their social media accounts.
In 2009, a recorded version of O Canada was played over the loud speakers at St. Louis's Busch Stadium instead of a live performance before Sheryl Crow sang the American anthem.
