Second year in a row that the All-Star game saw controversy over the singing of our National Anthem. I was completely put off by the singer right from the get-go. Besides the cringing while performing the anthem, she did a piss-poor job of singing - but when it got to the giggle after "God keep our land" - I was absolutely appalled. Here's an idea - forget the anthem altogether being that no one seems able to just straight up sing it without some sort of idiocy. The backlash she is getting is well deserved.

Oh no, O Canada yet again at baseball’s all star game.
The latest example of why anthems are an unnecessary distraction at sporting events came with the bizarre “performance” Calgary singer Jocelyn Alice gave of O Canada.
Of particular annoyance, Alice appeared to giggle after “God keep our Land,” prompting a startled response and apparent death stare from Jays first baseman Justin Smoak, who has heard the anthem plenty of times in his career.
In response to the backlash, Alice
tweeted on Monday, "I giggled because I saw some fellow Canadians on the big screen and was overcome with excitement in that moment. I love my country. I am so proud to be Canadian."
The questionable rendition came a year after a rogue member of The Tenors decided to make up his own lyrics.
Remigio Pereira of The Tenors attracted plenty of online fury at last year's game in San Diego when he sang, "We're all brothers and sisters, all lives matter to the great," instead of, "With glowing hearts we see thee rise, the True North strong and free."
Pereira left The Tenors months later after the other members of the quartet said he'd acted as a "lone wolf" in a statement posted to their social media accounts.
In 2009, a recorded version of O Canada was played over the loud speakers at St. Louis's Busch Stadium instead of a live performance before Sheryl Crow sang the American anthem.
