Disappointed as I was at the final outcome, it is early days and the Jays have time to adjust as you mention. Brett Cecil is a fav of mine and he couldn't get it done either. Opening day jitters or whatever.............lots of time to fix things...........in the meantime I am just glad to be watching baseball again.
Played little league and pony league baseball as a kid. Happy times .

Yep, I played on Little league for a year or so but I was the most uncoordinated runt on the team and so was ridiculed by coaches and players alike. Anyway, f**k 'em, I'm still here and a lot of them are dead. :) :) Anyway the moral of the story is don't despair at being the "hydrant", some day you might get to be "the dog". :) :)

I have to conclude that the Jays have not fixed their bullpen issues from last year. I think it is worse. As a matter of fact I will go on to say that the Jays bullpen plain outright sucks.

I thought Marco Estrada did a pretty decent job in his 7 innings today, IRBS.

Nice to see the Jays come away with a win in this one. Nice finish by Osuna. Yeah, Jays.

Yes, the formula for success will need to be starter goes 7 or 8 and Osuna finishes off. Now the question is aside from Estrada and sometimes Stroman, which of their starters can go 7 or 8 consistently?

Yipee! Jays win 7 - 2 over the Yankees! Congratulations guys!

Don't think I have seen that Hap chap pitch before, but thought he did a fair job against the Yankee batters tonight. Was so glad to see Brett Cecil have a better night, I felt just awful for him after his disastrous first outing of the season.

Ryan Goins really stepped up to the plate tonight both at bat and on the field.

I find that win or lose I am still thoroughly enjoying watching the Jays playing again. I was a wagon-jumper last year so did not get to see them work through all the early season issues. Really happy I am with them all the way this year.
When Joey comes through like he has in these first few games, I forgive him a lot.

They had 6 doubles tonight.

The bats were working late in the game - nice to see that improvement.

Never watched pitcher who is ambidextrous before - interesting.

I hope this is a sign that the so far absent offense (aside from Donaldson and Battista) is coming back to life. It will take some pressure off the pitching staff.

yeah, I haven't seen a pitcher like that either, interesting.

yes, I was beginning to tremble when I heard Cecil's name, as he has been pitching awful, but I guess
that's why gibbins keeps putting him out there, forcing him to get going, and he was much better tonight.
batting is a funny thing, a couple of hits can be very contagious and turn into 4 or 5 hits, momentum.
stroman tomorrow, hope he pitches better than last time, and I'm sure he will, he probably can't wait
to get back out there and do better.
I remember hap when he was with the team early on, then they traded him, and now
they have him back, he did well.

I think it would really confuse the batters if he switched between pitches. Does he have 2 gloves on the mound?

I figured you were pulling my leg with your last post but thought I would play along..........now I know for sure you are.

Actually his glove is rather in interesting in that it has two thumbs for when he has to change sides.

I am curious. I heard he was there but did not get a chance to watch him yesterday. Not trying to pull anybody's leg. I think it would blow a batters mind and put extra thoughts in which is always good for the pitcher. I think changing mid windup would probably be a balk. But changing sometimes between pitches (particularly on a switch hitter) would be masterful.

Mea Culpa, IRBS.

Pat Venditte, the only major league pitcher to throw with both arms..............makes him kind of special, glad he's ours.......

"In a rule that was created specifically for him — colloquially known as the “Pat Venditte Rule” — he must declare his throwing hand to the umpire when he faces a switch hitter."

Blue Jays call up ambidextrous Pat Venditte | Toronto Star

This one had its ups and downs. No runs for Jays early in but Marcus was holding his own then things went sideways as Stroman gave up two runs to give the Yanks a 2 - 0 lead. The outfield had a couple of misses that might have prevented one of the runs but it was a downer of an inning. The 5th turned all that around as the Jays scored 3 runs to take the lead which Tulo added to in the 6th with his first homerun of the year. Stroman got his arm back and the Jays lead the Yanks now 4 - 2 going to the bottom of the 7th.

Going into the 8th - status quo - Marcus will pitch.

Haven't a clue how this will end but it has been entertaining thus far.

Three strike-outs for Stro - good for Marcus after that awful 4th where he threw 30 pitches and gave up two hits - great comeback, kid - and we are off to the bottom of the 8th. GO JAYS, GO!

Osuna comes in to the dust off the last of the Yanks and the Jays walk away with another win..........! Yeah, JAYS!

Oh, I guess they take the series too...........quite a turn around from that first game, eh.

They lost the 1st game to the yankees with a pitching duel 3-2 so a pretty good series. Boston and Tampa -- not so much. We now play 4 in Fenway (who came up with this schedule -- we just played Boston and now again?) then 3 in Baltimore (who have started off like a rocket). Starting pitching (something I had as a glaring weakness coming into the season on paper) has been pretty good. Bullpen and offense both below expectations.

It's Jackie Robinson Day at Fenway Park in Boston. Last week I watched a documentary by Ken Burns about the life of Jackie Robinson. I have even more admiration for the man after seeing what he went through to become a major league player and what he accomplished once that goal was reached. I was surprised to learn that he was only 59 years old when he died of a massive heart attack. Nice to see they still honor his memory.
