They lost because the stunk. Pretty simple. Lost a game to KC. Probably will lose a full game to the Yankees tonight. Now they need to go into the series with a mind set of need 2/3. I believe particularly with their defense today they have been reading too much of their own press clippings.

Stunk? You think they did that badly? They only lost by a single run - not like the score was 10 - zip. They showed they are human and thus prone to error at times but I wouldn't go so far as to say they smelled bad. ;-)

They were charged with 3 errors but there were a couple more misqueues which were scored hits by the hometown scorer. All factored into some of the runs scored by Boston. That cost them the game. Baseball teams have won games scoring just 3 runs. It can be done. In September/October you need to be able to do that to win it all as you will be facing good pitchers.

I think that was an appropriate description of their defense today. They faced a hot pitcher and they will be facing more down the stretch. But you can't give up 4 when you score 3. You have to win the close ones. It was their defense which let them down today and cost them an otherwise winnable game.

True. But as a fan, I can vent my frustration and criticize them when the sh*t does happen. This is the time of year when sh*t does not happen to contending teams particularly not 2 days in a row while facing the division cellar dweller.

Was I talking about more? They stunk today.

a team that has given so much to their fans since the all star break, brought them to their feet over and
over, doesn't deserve that tacky title, cut them some slack, you are expecting perfection from every
game, or the other team to roll over and let them win, sports doesn't work like that.

It's a price of being in a race. I don't expect other teams to roll over. I expect the Jays to lose a couple such as yesterday. But I don't expect them to make so many errors in one game (I might add that it was only 3 due to home town scoring -- they were not very sharp across the board today). I suspect they got caught looking ahead to the Yankee series (which will happen, they are human). But doesn't make me any more likely to give them any slack.

The game I am seeing is the 3rd game and it will be Tanaka vs Stroman. Should be a good game but more likely 1-0 or 2-1 one way or the other. With Price in rotation, your Yankee fans don't know what they are talking about.

Tanaka out due to hamstring. Will see Nova instead. I believe Jays have hit Nova hard this second half.

Mets are getting creamed. Lead will be down to 2.5 (2 in L column).

well you know, none of them really care if any of us give them any slack, no slack, or drool over them.
yes, I agree their defense was loose tonight, not like them, and I don't think they were looking
ahead at all, afterall they lost last night too, all the more reason they wanted to make sure they
won this one, but that pitcher did his thing, a bit of luck with the dribblers, and some unlikely
errors, a good lesson, as it will bring them right back to their usual sharp play, BUT nothing is
written in stone, and nothing goes forever, and the Yankees might sweep them in the next series,
and we all will survive, its just a game, and as buck always says, "great pitching will always
outplay great hitters", and he is right.
they won't forget how to play defense, they'll be back and ready to go.

yes tanaka being out is a big break for the jays.

A night with the Jays' ace -- Priceless: DiManno

David Price reacts after catching a line drive hit back at his head by New York Yankees centre fielder Jacoby Ellsbury. Price allowed just two hits over seven innings.

Bases loaded. Slugger with the most active career grand slams in the majors at the plate. Tension dripping around the ballpark.

But Alex Rodriguez won’t make it No. 26. Not on this night. Not against this lefty.

Cutter fouled off. Fastball wide. Fastball swinging strike. Cutter for a ball. Fastball foul. Fastball off the plate. Fastball foul. Cutter foul. Fastball.

An epic confrontation. Two titans separated by a decade in age.

David Price’s ninth pitch is a cutter. A-Rod slices through the air, foul tip strikeout. Rogers Centre explodes, all those held breaths exhaled.

“We have a history,” Price says later, cryptically.

The moundsman got the best of the drama-king muscleman who, even at 40, can bash a team’s brains in. But there are still Yankees on each base and only two out. It might feel anti-climactic as Brian McCann digs in. Except it isn’t. Price goes up 0-2 on the New York catcher before inducing a parabola fly ball that Kevin Pillar nestles under in centre field.

They’re leaping out of their seats now, from teammates inside the dugout to enraptured fans all the way up in the last row of the 500s, where the Rogers Centre roof is open to the night sky. Standing ovation for Price, the adored, the heroic. Toronto’s. And still there’s a pinch-me incredulity to that.

You go Liam..........fab strike-out on A-Rod with the bases loaded. Also loved Josh's play at 3rd - that's a guy who is really into the game. Oh, Beltram/n? just got a homer and gives the Yanks the lead in the 8th.

Still 2 innings to hit. Will be tough against the A-list of the Yankees relievers but they can do it.

Well that was disappointing. Lets hope Huchison can keep them scoreless in the 9th and they can get something off Andrew Miller in the bottom of the 9th.

Well that didn't go well. Not sure I agree with putting him in for his FIRST relief appearance in this particular situation.

Joey Bats rules! What a game he's having in the outfield. I don't think A-Rod is going to have any fond memories to take home with him..........ahhhhhhhhh.

Bottom of the 9th still down by a point. Let's go Blue Jays!
