Tornado watch issued for Ontario
There is the threat of more severe weather across Ontario Wednesday, including tornadoes, as Goderich continues its clean-up from a recent storm. Environment Canada issued a tornado watch covering much of Ontario from Windsor to Thunder Bay and Muskoka, late Wednesday morning.
The weather agency was forecasting the potential for severe thunderstorms to move quickly across the province Wednesday afternoon, including the possibility of isolated tornadoes developing. It also issued a rainfall warning and severe thunderstorm warning for parts of northern Ontario.
Environment Canada cautioned people to continue to monitor the news media for updates on the potential storm. A line of thunderstorms was expected to develop over Michigan in the afternoon, then track rapidly eastward into Ontario. The storms could produce large hail, damaging winds, torrential downpours and frequent lightning, along with the potential for a twister, Environment Canada said.
The threat for severe weather is expected to reach areas near Lake Huron by mid-afternoon, and the remainder of the regions by late afternoon or early evening.
