No one is going to attack us. Any dispute or stake in the arctic will be diplomatic in nature. If it is not, then there will be more than just Canada fighting back, so no need to spend on naivety.

But... we need all those high priced penis extenders! Don't we? Someone in Ottawa thinks so. Has Harpo got penis envy?

I am. I'm leaving them alone to work out their own problems. I know you think there are altruistic reasons for being there, but there ain't any. You can bet the farm, that all the reasons your government has told you why you are there is pure, unadulterated BS. Your soldiers and ours are sacrificing their lives for someone else's profit, nothing else.

What profit, that argument just won't fly in this case. (Iraq or Afghanistan) What profit are you referring to? Were all getting so rich.

I am not a right winger or a Harper fan by any stretch. Having said that, this is nonsense. Every nation
on this planet has a defence force and a military of some kind. In Switzerland, the home militia has a
weapon in the closet. We on the other hand have one of the biggest land masses on the planet to even
suggest we wouldn't at least try to defend ourselves. To do that we have to have equipment that will be
of use to us. There are issues in the north, there are issues of defence in other parts of the country as
well/ China, America, Britain, you get the picture, any modern country has a defence force.
Look at the Chopper mess. We ordered the air craft and paid a deposit, we cancelled the air craft and
paid a payout penalty to do that. In the end we bought the choppers and the cost was higher than in the
first place. Yes we needed the choppers the old ones were crashing and in some cases we were trying
to find parts for equipment in junkyards. Anyone who says we don't need a military and to have it
equipped properly is not being realistic. It is not about what we like or dislike, it is about reality

Oh! My heart bleeds! They did make a killing (pun intended) for the first 6 or 7 years of the war though, didn't they?

Man that invasion argument gets old and tiresome. Seems like the only arguments (lame excuses at this point) people against the military have is the whole 'who will invade us' and 'no blood for profits'. Do Canadians have any arguments that haven't been done to death or is it just the same broken record? Stop beating a dead horse and come up with some new material.

More likely it will be your own modern military to surpress the people that will someday grow into a nation out of the fire that is coming.

So you're hoping for an argument that you can win? How about you make the case for the aircraft and we can see what you make of that.

wow , sounds like religious prophacey:roll:

The 34867 quatrain. Nosydamis.

Boogy men.

Who would have thought a housing market crash would have spoiled a perfectly profitable war, eh?

Arms manufactures always make money, they have been doing it throughout history, so what is different today? By the way the arms industry does support and employ thousands of people with good paying jobs. But on a National level these wars were never profitable from the start.

Doesn't it make you wonder who is really running the country then? War in especially not profitable for those who give their lives so that people working for the arms industry can have high paying jobs.

It's kind of like playing Goldeneye where everyone else is unarmed but we have rocket launchers. Putting down the rocket launcher is just going cause a lot of deaths by judo chops.

$65 billion to the American economy when you get the pink slip from work think about the "here we go again" comment and guess what, your taxes will still go up.

American economy, Russian economy does it really matter, you want the best now, not in 10-20 years which it would take to develop your own.
