I fully agree. House are much over valued. These monster houses are just a status symbol to bolster feeble minds. Why would two people want a house with 4 bathrooms?

I can never figure out why empty nesters (aka idle rich) build a new nest 3 times the size of the one they raised their brood in. Lots of them around here. I see it as just asking for a newly single offspring to move back home with a new brood.

Two reasons - snobbery, insecurity. Status symbols are everything to these people.
