First off, the reason people remain with the status quo in many cases is because they aren't properly educated in the subject matter and they are afraid of change. Most Canadians don't even know what our existing model is even called and yet you believe that giving them the option to make that choice without being properly informed is sufficient? That's lunacy.
Here's what happens when you leave things up to the masses without properly informing them:
Nostalgia, misinformation fuel Brexit campaign that defies conventional logic
That sure sounds like Blackleaf.
Secondly, no one expects a government to keep all their promises. Politicians are people too, and they are not perfect. Sometimes it is actually worthwhile to do something different and the government explains changes to the platform or their promises if the public wants to know.
Lastly, none of this is 'statist' or 'leftist' or however you want to brand normal human behaviour just because it doesn't fit with your selfish agenda.
