I see, so it's only correct if it has Candians saving the world and defying the odd's while carrying a bottle of Molsons in one hand and waving a hockey stick in the other?

Oh lets not get pedantic over spelling either, though maybe you may not type in a haste, surely this is getting a little petty?

On another note, I am not ignoring the fact it was a massive task via many countries to defeat Nazi Germany, though it certainly isn't down to Canada! whose contribution was accepted though hardly required. The pivital roles were played through Britain, Russia and The United States.

I dare say had the United States not been involved, many Canadians wouldn't lay claim to such proposturous achievements and accept their minor role in the war.

The pivital role was played by money, the players didn't matter, as long as the game was played the fans got thier investment back in spades. Canada supplied a bit of meat for the industrial stew. Nationalism, flags, marching bands, bullets and guns and a full belly and kaZoom you got a commercial success with no chance of loosing anything if you know where to put your money, and when you print money it's double plus good. The whole thing was a splashing great banking success. The dead, oh yeah we should say a few words about them, if you don't understand history you'll become it all the faster.

There's an entire subforum dedicated to introducing yourself upon your arrival. It won't be seen as arrogant.

Where do you see anything stating Canada was a greater power than anyone else? I daresay you would have been in a bit of a sticky wickett without us old chap. United States stayed out of it as long as there was money to be made. Lend lease was as profitable to them as it was devastating to the British pound. Once Hitler switched focus on Russia - and that was long before Uncle Sam got in on it - the war for Germany was already decided.

Canada's minor role ... as in British Commonwealth Air Training Program? North Atlantic convoy escorts? Feed England? The storage point for British gold? The only armed army you had after Dunkirk?

Great things about Canada.... One of the greatest is we live in the shadow of two arrogants, seldom get our due credit for out place on this earth, yet we can still have spirit enough to laugh at the stupid things we've watched John Bull and Uncle Sam do over the years ... and tact enough to let you both burn your own arses.

Woof!

Time to lighten this up a bit:smile: I really enjoy the free lemon sno cones you find everywhere you go while walking in this great nation in the winter.[think Frank Zappa: Yellow Snow]

I love that we're such a player on the world stage that any sign of patriotism tends to bring other countries running to try to put that fire out. Regardless of how many flawed notions a post might have, it seems to be the mere act of pride that threatens and sparks instant controversy.

Feed England? I guess we didn't have farmers or fishermen bringing in the bulk of food supplies for the country...sigh, and yes, The worlds largest Navy was suddenly wiped out at Dunkirk leaving only Canada standing in the way of a Nazi controlled Britain, if only the world knew how fast the Empire could be bought to it's knee's huh.
I'm afraid our investments in Canada were sold off to pay for the ludicrously expensive raw materials supplied from the States so there were no gold supplies.....infact I stand by my statement without further explanation, as in the course of the war, I don't understand why you make a mountain out of a mole hill, Canada made contributions yes, not essential, but welcomed, at least act with dignity and grace like your American neighbours when listing achievements.
I don't think it's an act of patriotism that lead's other nationals to question things, more the glaring inaccuracies of the statements, a prime one being ''Canada burned the whitehouse'' taking other nationals discoveries and inventions, and the constant need to justify your existence next to America, which is in abundance in the original post of this thread.

In fact and practice and legally but not lawfully Britian still owns both Canada and the United States as well as all of the commonwealth countries wherein was installed British law an insturment of subjugation (legal and financial) of the crown behind the crown. So sayith Sir Henry Kissenger and Sir Colin Powell.

Thank you for reaffirming that which my grand dad - born County Kent, England, 1904 and one of the many Canadian to leave France with BEF - taught me well: You can always tell an Englishman. You just can't tell him much.

If he was born in England, I assume to British born parents, doesn't that make him a Britain and not Canadian leaving France? this is where the ''Canadians did this and that'' thread starts to unravel.

My guess would be he was a British-born Canadian - a label which happened to fit a lot of colonials. Really, there is an Oath one can swear to rid one's self even of the clutches of Jolly Old.

This is where you expose yourself as just another troll. Pip pit and tally ho and all that other rot....

Tsk tsk, no need for the elaborate name calling, a troll indeed....sigh, a British born Canadian? being British is surely the antithesis of being Canadian, so is there really such a thing as Canadian, unless it's native?

Is an Italian-born Canadian a Briton by your faulted lofty logic? Being born here, that would make me a native Canadian. Does it make me of First People? A rose by any other name ... but a troll is just a troll.
