Here is your proof.

Michael Calderone's Blog: Sen. Harkin: 'We need the Fairness Doctrine back' - Politico.com

Air America is done. It forced itself into every market and got smashed. Now they are a fraction of what they were. You can't even find them here in Mass as I used to tune in to hear them whine from time to time... that is until one day I tuned in and there was a Portugese program going on. So much for Air America.

Don't get me wrong I couldn't care less about Left or Right wing Radion hosts..

My point was proof that there is a House or Senate bill to push this thru.. All you gave me was some member trying to stir up $hit, which we have our fair share of in Canada. Any member of our House can stand up and say " I want Canada to be part of the US tomorrow ". Doesn't mean it will happen ..

As for Air America, hey I don't listen to then so what ever..

Quoting L Gilbert I mentioned Jack Webster in another thread. Now there was a guy who wasn't particularly on either wing but he sure was great at holding pols feet to the fire. No pol was safe around him

I remember Jack Webster well, he used to keep bill bennett sr and jr up against

the wall on many occasion, and gaglardi too, Jack was a good guy.

Yup I remember good old Jack and even the day he retired.. He was tough on the best of them but they all respected him...

That's probably because the liberals listen to music on their radios, and the
evangelicals and other right wing republicans, listen to limbaugh.;-)
The liberals are the silent majority, happy with their casual lives, not
constantly fighting to change the freedoms and rights of others, as the
looney right wingers are doing.

Very misinformed. Liberals are far from the silent majority... they are the loud vocal minority.

If that was the case the Liberal Left would not want to bring back the so called "Fairness Doctrine" which basically stomps on the Freedom of Speech. They do not like Conservatives having a forum to speak their mind and will not tolerate critisism of the left...so they want the "Fairness Doctrine".

That is proof. It is more than trying to stir up things... they want Conservative radio stopped and they are going to try.

To be fair, Conservative stations are only a problem because they pass themselves off as news. They aren't. They are entertainment. The problem comes in when they use their money to choke actual news.

They are talk radio shows and that is it. They are clear that the views are the opinions of the talk show host which on talk radio... most are conservative. People are free to call in and agree or disagree with the host. What the Left doesn't like is the host is usually conservative and critisizes the left and Democrats and the Left and Democrats hate that. They need to be told how wonderful they are. Limbaugh is only one. Michael Savage is another and he was just as hard on Bush as he is on Obama now. Local talk radio is filled with conservative hosts and that is where the real "danger" is to the left. That is why they want it silenced.

Rush Limbaugh isn’t going anywhere, as long as people listen to him, he will be around. And I don’t think the Congress can do anything to shut him down. The so called ‘Fairness Doctrine’ will be very difficult to get through Congress, I don’t think the votes are there. That is just a bogeyman raised by the far right.

How is it the bogeyman? It is the Democrats that brought it up. Conservatives are just getting the word out. It will be difficult to get through Congress because of the Talk Radio.

Northern Ontario,
I used to enjoy watching Rush Limbaugh Some 10 years ago when I could pick up his show on my dish.....not that I agreed with all he said....to me it was just entertainment....just like I'll sometimes watch Benny Hinn ....for a laugh:lol:

There are only a few Democratic politicians talking about it, I don’t think they will get even all the Democratic votes in the House and the Senate. I think it is a non starter.

The far right and the talk radio is pushing this issue to the hilt, so that when it finally doesn’t happen (and its chances of happening are remote), the talk radio can claim that it didn’t happen because they opposed it.

It is a standard tactic in politics, put up a straw man, shoot him down and then claim credit for it.,

There are plenty of issues on which the hate radio is going to lose. Obama will soon be issuing an executive order permitting stem cell research to be federally funded. Very likely the legislation outlawing discrimination against homosexuals will pass this year.

You won’t see hate radio pushing these issues as hard as the Fairness Doctrine. That is because on these other issues hate radio is very likely going to lose, so they are putting up the straw man of Fairness Doctrine, shoot him down and then claim credit for it.

Sitting at my laptop
It's a non issue, but it is comical to listen to Rush's strident whining every time he feels someone is picking on him (which he thinks is all the time)

He has very little influence anymore since he outted himself for being a racist and a drug addict, so this is his way of keeping his name in the news

Rush Limbaugh didn't get more or less famous.

He is the equivalent of the Daily Show and Colbert Report..except not funny haha, more like funny you poor sack of turd "I feel better about my life by looking at yours" funny.

The problem is news channels (like Fox News) broadcasting people like Bill O'Reilly. He does not belong on the news channel.

The Daily Show and Colbert Report are on Comedy Central, which is fair notice that they are comedy not news.

Most of these shows (Hannity, O'Reilly) are on a News channel, thats a blatant lie.

We all would like to shut limbaugh's mouth and hannity's, it's easy, just change
channels or stations, that is what I do, I just tune into hannity every now and then,
to have a peak, and it's just like a soap opera, you can pick it up very easily, as
it is the same stupid statements over and over.
Obama won't take away anyone freedom of speech, only if it is racist or similarily
hateful.
Limbaugh and hannity just show their own ignorance when they talk, and those
who follow them religiously, (and they usually are), are the same.
Hannity, Alex Jones, Limbaugh, etc. are all mentally deranged.

The fact that they make millions from an equally deranged moronic public (voters) points to the imminent self-destructive spiral into collapse of our Western culture.

Trumps election is only the vanguard of this sh*tstorm.
