One reason I've never visited is the notoriously bad food-Central America was awful and Cuba is widely judged to be worse.

You know I was thinking about your statement. I've enjoyed Arizona / Sonoran style Mexican food all my life. It's my favorite and there are more than a few favorite restaurrants of mine in the Phoenix Metro Area. I have though on occasion tried genuine "mexican" food made by people from Mexico in restaurants in Arkansas, Missouri and Arizona and I did not care for it. Maybe the Cuban food the ex was talking about was Americanized like the Mexican food I love.
