My neighbourhood ain't exactly lily white, Eagle.

Oh please... you're supposedly from Oklahoma.

It means that Boston had, and has, a race problem. Just like, what was it, 20 or so years ago when that guy shot his wife and said a black guy did it, and the cops rousted half the black men in the city before they did a little basic investigating and found out. . . whaddaya know, it was the guy himself who did it!

Half the black men in the city? Here we go with the embellishing! The Stuart murder was figured out in a little over two months. The murderer shot himself badly. Even the Doc said he damn near shot himself fatally.

And yes... it does have a race problem that goes both ways.

Remember this sit down?

Boy that racist Harvard elitist must have boiled to have to sit down with that Cambridge Cop after he falsely accused him of being a racist and Obama had to eat his words. I bet that was the sweetest beer Officer Crowley ever had.

Racial segregation is against the law, Eagle. And it happens I approve of that. If you don't, I'm genuinely sorry for you.

Been keeping up with current events? Raced based assignments to schools are being struck down all over the country.

Enjoy!

Like Robert Gould Shaw? Fine Bostonian, Col. Shaw.

Yes you should read up on him!

"They are not of the best class of nigs," he said in a letter to his father from Camp Meigs in Readville, southwest of Boston, where his regiment was encamped.

My corner wasn't.

Oh I am so sure!

OK, I'm not gonna laugh at you, because I recollect that just a little while back I thought you were in Texas.

I'm an Indian, Eagle. Specifically Shawnee. As in non-white. As in redskin, prairie ******, blanket-***, savage.

Yeah, and it would have been figured out in two hours if they'd done a paraffin test on Stuart. What's the first rule of murder investigations? Look to people the victim knows. Spouse is generally the first suspect. Unless the spouse says it was a black man.

And yes... it does have a race problem that goes both ways.
You bet it does. But it wasn't a black city council that racially segregated public housing. And it wasn't black legislatures that passed Jim Crow laws. And it wasn't Indians that put us on the reservations, or in the Indian schools.

Remeber this sit down?

So. . . you're saying that the fact that some blacks are racist justifies segregating public housing?

So, tell me, Eagle. What schools would you want to keep me out of? Harvard? BC? UMass? Northeastern?

What neighborhoods do you want me excluded from? Beacon Hill, I guess. But what other ones?

Best thing that ever happened. Along with the Supremes striking down racial preferences for college admissions.

Oh do tell! I'm from Texas. Please point me to where you would get that recollection.

Like Ward Churchill? Or are you like our Senator Liz Warren who is also a Native American from Oklahoma?

And he was a suspect as well. The story started falling apart before he took the jump.

Moving the goal post eh? Can't stay on topic? You're all over the map

We were talking about busing. So you lost the argument and now you need to switch gears.

Yes indeed... now you are really flailing about.

Go to them all! But I wouldn't bus you across the city of Boston if you were in second grade (etc) as a social experiment.

You're not that bright are you?

(BTW. There isn't any public housing near Beacon Hill. That's where all the wealthy white liberals live. They are not going to have any of the lower class in their hood.)

Says the guy who can't believe the simple statement that I'm an Indian.

Busing was the wrong solution to the problem. That's where we agree. Where we disagree is that I think segregation was a problem too.

I think you mean all adult white male Protestant property owners being created equal and government of the adult white male Protestant property owners, by the adult white male Protestant property owners, and for the adult white male Protestant property owners.

At the start, but it was a lot wider representation than what had been there under the king.

The groundwork laid by the Founding Fathers allowed the creation of one of the freest societies on the planet, one that is now regressing to much more central and absolute control.

Can anyone explain how these two spending their own money to try to make the country as they would like is worse than the freeloaders from Occupy blocking roads and demanding that those that have share with those that are too lazy to get their own?

I guess that depends if you don't mind the thought of ending up a virtual slave or not.

America was built on messy protests like the Occupy Wall Street Movement in opposition to the kind of autocratic attempt to impose a central control like the Koch Brothers are doing.

And how much of the wealth of all those "self-made" billionaires actually came from their own efforts. Many of the wealthiest Americans have become experts in how to get the rest of America to pay their bills. What we're starting to see now is some of those people(like the Koch Brothers) try and turn financial power into almost absolute political power.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/25/government-subsidies-corporations_n_1912835.html

Welfare queens may actually look more like giant corporations.

The government spent about $59 billion to pay for traditional social welfare programs like food stamps and housing assistance in 2006, while Uncle Sam doled out $92 billion in assistance to corporations during the same year, according to an analysis from Think By Numbers, a progressive blog. That means that big, and in many cases profitable, corporations got nearly double the money from the government that needy individuals got.

Cobalt - A simple question
US population is approx 315 million
2 out of 315 million are ugly. Does that mean the rest are really good looking.

It all depends on the lighting, the time of day and how much beer an individual has consumed.

For instance if it's 2 AM and you're in a dark bar and have been drinking beer since 4 in the afternoon, it's much more likely that you'd find many of those 315 million attractive.

Like Lizzy? She's an Indian from Oklahoma too. That's how she got her job.

There wasn't any segregation. People were going to schools in their own neighborhoods.

What would you do?

I wouldn't bus them. I would let kids be able to go to school in their neighborhoods. If there was a problem I would try to fix the problem in that school.

I love how the liberals say what else could they do. Something had to be done. So they destroyed Boston Schools because people were walking to schools in their own neighborhood. Forced busing cost tens of millions of dollars and accomplished one thing... the destruction of the Boston School System.

... but we had to do something right?

It's amusing how you've cast me in the role of a wealthy white liberal.

One out of three ain't bad. For you.

A decent pair of Oxfords instead of sneakers, some bling like a watch or a nice ring, crisp haircut, clean shaven, some fresh pressed clothes, a sharp looking jacket and America could look pretty good.

Did I cast you as that? I am merely expressing my distaste of them and of those that support them in this case.

Keep trying though.

The "Separate but equal" ideology in America has been disproved long ago, certain groups are already being left behind, stuff the Kochs want to do will accelerate that.

Racism also has a very long history in America and had been one of the most divisive issues, people that play into this issue(like the Kochs) are just creating more problems to deal with in coming years.

Ugly in this sense refers to the utter selfishness that a tiny minority seem convinced is the core America value. America works best when most of its citizens cooperate effectively(think WW II), people like the Kochs try to exploit that for their own advantage, just like their counterparts worldwide.

True. Back in WWII, we all worked cooperatively for segregated military units, and to throw American citizens of Japanese descent into concentration camps.

It was beautiful, man!

As opposed to the wonderful world we would have lived in had the Japanese and Germans won, their policies on handling what were seen as unacceptable people were far more permanent? America went from an isolationist nation with a small military in the 1930s to the nation that did the most to preserve the kind of freedom that allows you to criticize it here.

No system is perfect, what's amazing about America is how it's able to reinvent itself for the benefit of the greatest number when it's necessary. And many of the soldiers and airmen of those segregated units came home to change the country for the better even if there was resistance, by the end of the decade the armed forces were being integration and the Civil Rights movement was well underway. This would have been impossible in America's chief rival of that time the USSR. Dissenters there were imprisoned or shot.

If people like the Kochs are allowed to accumulate almost all the wealth and tightly control access to the democratic process then some of the best aspects of America will be lost.

When all else fails, bring out the false dichotomy.

As opposed to presenting an ideal as model to judge everything?

We don't live in a perfect world which is why a system that provides the greatest potential for freedom and self realization on the widest scale is so important. And why individuals who are almost solely focused on their own interests spend so much time and energy attacking that system.

America has been far better than the alternatives for much of its history due to the strength of the underlying system created in its earliest days.

Information is power

NOW YOU CAN AVOID buying stuff from companies controlled by fascists like Nestlé or the Koch brothers. Once you’ve scanned an item, Buycott will show you its corporate family tree on your phone screen. Scan a box of Splenda sweetener, for instance, and you’ll see its parent, McNeil Nutritionals, is a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson.

Even more impressively, you can join user-created campaigns to boycott business practices that violate your principles rather than single companies.

"You can scan the barcode on any product and the free app will trace its ownership all the way to its top corporate parent company, including conglomerates like Koch Industries."

New App Lets You Boycott Koch Brothers, Monsanto And More By Scanning Your Shopping Cart - Forbes

That the US does. And when strife or disaster hits everyone looks to the US for answers or help.
