Spreading the love on Valentine’s Day.

"Maybe around April 2," Trump said in response to a question about when auto tariffs might be coming during an executive order signing session in the Oval Office. "I would have done them on April 1 ... But we're going to do it on April 2."

That might finally get our politicians attention.

Here is a bee thats buzzing in Donnie's bonnet.

Pharmaceuticals rank as the No. 1 import from the EU into the U.S., according to Customs data, and popular weight-loss drugs are among products that could be impacted. Many auto brands have significant exposure as well, including Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, Volkswagen, and Ford. Trump indicated on Thursday that auto import tariffs are on the way, too, according to a Reuters report.

Exemptions for various industries such as pharmaceuticals or autos might be considered, according to previous reporting including comments from House Speaker Mike Johnson to Reuters, but Trump said in Oval Office comments to the press on Thursday that there will be no exemptions for any tariffs put in place.

That and a 60 cent dollar.
And the gifts to auto makers to set up shop in OntariOWE even though it is not the best place.
It's the best place in Canada, geographically. Especially with just in time shipping being the norm. Ontario is closer to most of the northern US's auto plants.
We also have the industrial capacity to supply Ontario's auto plants via feeder factories ie: the components needed to make the car parts.

Now, EV's could change that dynamic but the way sales drop off a cliff when incentives like govt rebates are removed I wouldn't count on EV's being the next revolution in transportation.

So, to justify the 25% tariff claims against Canada & Mexico, Trump “claimed” a national emergency situation due to drugs & migrants flooding into the US from “both” countries….& sort of a spill off of that towards China (the C in BRICS), but not against the other countries Trump (I won’t even say America here) is targeting.

Above we can see he’s also targeting Brazil, Russia, India, China, & South Africa here…along with many many others, but for other reasons than what he claimed for Mexico & Canada. This map above is a couple weeks old now, so probably out of date.

Trump has since then gone after NATO, the EU, Ukraine, etc…’cuz a week or two have passed. Weird question, in light of the last week or so, could Canada could boost defence spending to five per cent of gross domestic product, or ten per cent, and would make a difference? Who does Trump expect us to defend ourselves against? His newfound best friend in Moscow? The R in BRICS? Himself? America? China who Trump is also lashing out against? Someone or something else?

I mean, we (Canada) should increase our military spending, for our own benefit, but is it relevant to Trumps (not America’s) threats about tariffs?

I’ve found a short list of some of the other countries that Trump is also threatening tariffs against, & a weighted graph towards guesswork as to the justifications there of.

Who isn’t mentioned in this last graph? The BRICS nations.

In all these mean attacks has NATO and EU upped their game? Is Canada scrambling to build pipelines, spruce up the border, seek other export channels, did Trudeau quit long before voted out in October?

Maybe its working....
