Grace is a state of mind.
Not really. In the religious sense it's a supernatural gift granted by god to humans (and I think the Catholics will tell you to angels as well) for their eternal salvation, if they meet certain conditions. Those are the conditions that are impossible to meet, essentially because they require us to deny our humanity, repeatedly.

Granted, but I think that us people, can attain 'grace'. There's many, many definitions; "The exercise of love, kindness, mercy, favour; disposition to benefit or serve another; favour bestowed or privilege conferred"... or "Seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form, or proportion. A characteristic or quality pleasing for its charm or refinement ."

There, but for the Grace of God, go I.

In those few words (never written in the Bible), I believe that I learned the essence of the meaning.

Properly defined, as you've done, I agree entirely. But what herald's talking about, and the attitude he displays (or she I suppose, though that seems unlikely) in this thread and others I think is delusional and alarmingly judgmental. He's condemned most of us who disagree with him to the lake of fire, directly or indirectly, and I'm convinced that if he had the power to do so, he'd cheerfully drop us all in personally, believing he was doing god's work.

"There but for the grace of God go I." - Attributed to John Bradfordhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bradford who was an English reformer imprisoned for his faith as he watched another criminal on his way to be executed for his crimes.
It was a comment upon the mercy of some god or other, probably Yahweh, Jehovah, (pick a name).

Jesus said, Except a man is born of His Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. John 3. If you are not born of His Spirit, you will perish in the lake of fire.

You are a broken record that no one wants to hear. You can repeat that nonsense until the cows come home but no matter what you think, the bible is a work of fiction and you are sounding more and more like raving psycho.

Why don't you go and spread your message of hope to all the junkies down on East Hastings? Maybe some of them want to hear your BS.

By the way, Jesus wa a fictional character in a fictional book written 2000 years ago by people who wanted to control a bunch of unruly fanatics just like you.

Here, go entertain yourself with something useful: http://chillifresh.com/wobble/

Funny, I can't find where it says that in the Bible.

So what?

5:33, The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter.

9:29, Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

22:9, (Disdainfully) bending his side, in order to lead (men) astray from the Path of Allah: for him there is disgrace in this life, and on the Day of Judgment We shall make him taste the Penalty of burning (Fire).

etc etc etc

He's twisting Revelation 20:15 to mean what he wants. It says "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" after The Beast and all his followers, and Hell, and Death, got tossed in. He thinks Revelation is about our future, not the Roman persecution of Christians that was going on when it was written. There's no indication that "written in the book of life" means you had to have been "born again" in the sense herald means. These people just make stuff up to frighten children.

Ahah. I thought it might be another religious invention.
