Blah! just like you to use the word sin. Answer the question and stop beating around the burning bush! What do you base your belief that homosexuality is wrong? Hey but take ladyc advice don't bother answering, because I already know where you get it from. And in that is the danger to every free thinking person on this planet.

RB,

Again, your assertions are nice but please follow them up with proof that the Church and JP II in particular has told AIDS patients that they cannot use condoms. I will acknowledge they aren't in favour of condoms because they are "anti-life". However, having said that, AIDS is also anti-life and so I believe that the stance in regard to AIDS isn't what you think it is.

Both you and Pea seem to be good at putting words in other people's mouths. How about showing me(call me Thomas) where the Pope has said that married couples who suffer from AIDS and use condoms are going to hell.

RE: The Pope Has Passed O

My definition of sin, at least one my definitions, is inflicting suffering and death on people because you have a funny hat an an ancient book of mythology.

Pea,

Directly pulled from other thread(Do you see any mention of the word bible or hell??):

From a human rights perspective, could anyone please explain to me the difference between same-sex couples having the right to choose their partners and polygamy couples having the right to choose their partners?

Taking it a step further could anyone please explain to me the difference between a same-sex couple and say two adult siblings wanting to have their "relationship" legally recognized??

Many people who support same-sex marriages are opposed to these relationships however, I haven't heard their arguements which differentiates their relationships from the others.

mrmom2,

This is the best you could find, a story 60 years old that doesn't specifically say that he knew what the gas was being sold for(If the story is true at all).

Now you guys are really stretching. Hope you don't pull a muscle!

RE: The Pope Has Passed O

It is the same argument promoted by those on the radical Christian right who have been trying to derail the process of ensuring all Canadians have equal rights under the charter, tibear.

The inference is clear...you are borrowing their misleading rhetoric to put forth their point of view, yet you are denying that your position is informed by the belief system that informs both your position and theirs.

Actually radio Netherlands played a bit on the subject a few nights ago and an african man was interviewed regarding the subject. You see he contracted aids about 10-12 years ago and is married. He uses a condom with his wife but had to face excommunication from the community church because of his decision. His wife has never contracted the disease because of the protection and he grudgeingly accepts that he cannot go to church now with the rest of the community.

RB,

I've never "borrowed" these beliefs from anyone. They are beliefs I've held for years.

I offer you the same challenge, please find one bible quote or reference to hell in any of my posts before you use my religious faith against me in a debate.

I bought it in an occult book store.

I sort of thought you would be familiar with it though.

Bill Cooper is who indirectly showed me about the NWO, and such.

I said that you borrowed their misleading rhetoric, not their beliefs.

You've just admitted that your position, which you wish to use to create legislation, is based on your religious beliefs though. Thanks for that.

Jo,

There are many local priests who make up their own beliefs. I even know one priest who "blessed" a couple that was living together but they didn't want to get married because it wasn't convenient.

These priests make things up as they go and don't follow the Church guidelines. It is almost impossible to control every single priest in every parish and some of their teachings to their congregations.

And that folks is why I say what I think. Usually I don't it always leads to the kind of thing that went on in this thread. I personally will do anything I can to prevent anyone from trying to create legislation based on religious beliefs. The CHURCH does not belong in the state.

Ride A Pale Horse, by Milton William Cooper... this was one of the sources for the bit on the Pope that mrmom2 posted. Let's have a look-see at what sort of person is qualified to judge the man, shall we?

UFO conspiracist, tax resister, and self-styled "militiaman", Bill Cooper left a mixed legacy. While those who were inclined to accept his theories on John F. Kennedy's assassination and a government cover-up of an alien invasion found him engaging and personable, those who questioned his logic or asked for proof found 'his demeanor and attitude was "unfriendly" at best.'
Well, that sounds a tad familiar.

Best known as the author of Behold a Pale Horse (1991), this book detailed his claims of an extraterrestrial invasion and government cover-up, as well as the complete text of the notorious antisemitic hoax, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, with Cooper claiming that "any reference to 'Jews' should be replaced with the word 'Illuminati."
Hmmm... credible source to base an opinion on. :D

Cooper made many claims about his life. He claimed to have been a member of the Order of DeMolay, an appendant body of Freemasonry, claiming this gave him insight into the hidden clues of masonic control.
A second-class petty officer, he had received an Honourable Discharge from the United States Navy on 11 December, 1975. But he also made unverified claims to have worked for Naval Intelligence, using this as justification for many of his claims and accusations regarding what he claimed was a government cover-up regarding UFOs.

He first posted messages in ParaNet early in 1988 but when asked for evidence, became so abusive that he was eventually barred. "He was known for plagiarizing the 'research' of other UFOlogists and claiming that he first saw all this stuff in Naval Intelligence documents in the early '70s—including things the UFOlogists made up as jokes."
It just gets better and better. 8)

Over time, his claims became more outlandish. He claimed that JFK was assassinated by his driver, citing a special 'washed' version of the Zapruder film that seemed to show Kennedy's driver, William Greer, turning to shoot the President—a theory since disproven. He later claimed that the aliens in an American television series, "Alien Nation", were real aliens.
All quotes are from here...

Yup.... this looks like the perfect guy to discredit the Pope.

RB,Pea,

When I was talking about beliefs I was talking about human rights beliefs and NOT religious beliefs.

Surely, you can understand that a person can have both of these different beliefs. Perhaps not.

I will acknowledge that a a person who is truly religious does try to bring their faith into everything they do. Remember the love and respect that we talked about earlier??
