My point was that not all seemingly upstanding gentlemen are what they appear to be. You were holding Kavanaugh on a pedestal, and I gave you an example of a well-known wolf in sheep's clothing.
I asked if someone could be tops in their class in HS, college and law school and all you gave me was an ordinary honours undergrad college student, that’s a huge difference.

I was talking more in general about 'people not always being who you think they are'...how outward appearances can be deceiving...and how no one really knows anybody behind closed doors.

But I still like you anyways, Walter...despite the many thumbs down you continue to give me. At least you're consistent.

Since everyone seems to realize the Ford accusations can go nowhere.. being nothing but scraps, shards, fragments of memories which she has cobbled together into a narrative totally consonant with her academic culture and the Me Too movement.. with comic book villains and damsels in distress and feminine heroines (herself). It's obvious to anyone without prejudice to see that its pure Romantic Fiction.

Now its pivoted to 'drinking to excess' or 'lying about drinking'. There's no end of the ways Democrats are attempting to scuttle the nomination.

The revelations over the weekend portray Kavanaugh as social animal drawn to athletic, Greek, A list, culture at Yale. That is undoubtedly a 'drinking' culture, but it is also one of high achievement, effort and excellence. They worked/played/partied hard. He seemed typically obnoxious in the social milieu but not excessively so. There is simply no evidence of habitual sexual predation or harrassment.

It all should be no surprise to anyone that he gravitated to the jock sniffing, frat culture of the GW Bush Whitehouse. He's never really presented himself as anything else. It's hardly exclusionary and he didn't lie about it.

America Being Torn Apart

 .. hardly. I think is probably healthy to prick the pall of Political Correctness that has smothered the American culture for decades.. with its fraudulence and deceit in its designs to overturn all traditional moral landmarks. This shows the the PC Establishment is every bit as sleazy, insidious, and cruel as the McArthy red baiting.

I remain highly skeptical of Kavanaugh's 'conservative' credentials. He gives all too much credence to Stare Decisis (precedent) and procedural logic over a flat out assessment of 'good and evil' as the foundation of jurisprudence. I have real doubts he is in anyway a reliable vote for overturning Roe v Wade.. the great, festering, open wound on the American cultural landscape.

But frankly he now represents a choice of submitting to the lies of the dictatorship of moral relativism, radical individualism, atheistic humanism, that defines modern culture. He has to be confirmed, or atleast the fight has to be taken to the limit, rather than submit to the forces of disintegration in the US.

Ludington said he often saw Kavanaugh "staggering from alcohol consumption," and said he often became "belligerent and aggressive" while drinking.

"starting a fight that ended with one of our mutual friends in jail."

Kavanaugh "lied about his past actions on national television, and more especially while speaking under oath in front of the United States Senate, I believe those lies should have consequences."

Walter, isn't it a bit ironic that you are forever chasing everyone around this forum telling them you are living rent free in their heads?

I find this incongruity to be hilarious! :)

Actually what they are looking at in the RCC is REPORTED cases at the time of sexual abuse that were covered up by Bishops or 'settled' for often nominal sums while the offenders were transferred to other parishes where they continued their serial crimes. It's quite a bit different than coming up with a 'recovered' memory 30 years after the fact and weaponizing it in a ideological battle.

Catholic priests in Germany 'abused thousands of children'

A leaked report in Germany has revealed that more than 3600 children were sexually assaulted over the past 70 years.Germany's Catholic Church said Wednesday it was "dismayed and ashamed" by decades of child sex abuse by priests after a report was leaked showing that thousands of minors were assaulted.
The study, commissioned by the German Bishops' Conference, was due to be presented officially on September 25, but several local media published key conclusions, including the damning finding that more than 3,600 children were sexually assaulted by priests in Germany over nearly seven decades.
Authors of the study also warned that the true scale of the abuse may be greater as some documents were "destroyed or manipulated".
"We know the extent of the sexual abuse that has been demonstrated by the study. We are dismayed and ashamed by it," said Bishop Stephan Ackermann on behalf of the conference.

Who cares what the RCC white wash reports? Priests have been buggering little boys for 2000 years. It isn't going to be swept under the carpet anymore. Neither is the rape of women by the rich and entitled men.

Exactly, Many real Catholics want a thorough venting of the coverups, removal of Bishops, and radical changes in the selection, vetting and supervision of priests. The abusers still only represent about 5% of the total of priests and religious but have caused catastrophic damage to the credibility of the institution and to the lives of victims.

Financial audits of all diocese to expose financial compensations as happened in Pennsylvania are required. Francis has been a profound disappointment as Vicar of Christ. The Church needs new leadership and major Reform (which always means a return to first principles in the Church).

If he isn't posting "rent free" he is posting "ad hominem is a poor argument"

Which is pretty hilarious

Breaking News CNN. About a bar fight and Kavanaugh. Don't know if it is the same one. 7:25 PM N.Y. Times. He threw ice on the victim. Was questioned by police but not arrested. He was a Yale.
