My proposal for Church of the Beaver seems to have attracted some questionable comment.....perhaps we could find another name in keeping with the reference to the natural world in general and the forest in particular. Something evocative of nature's beauty......a sunrise?

Peer pressure, family, personal experience, education (or lack thereof) can influence some people to be racist, sexist, hateful and homophobic... Do you condemn those "institutions" as destructive and corrosive elements in the same manner as religion?

Absolutely. If an institution promotes racism , sexism, homophobia etc. if an institution has institutionalized these attributes, then it deserves to be condemned in the strongest terms.

And perhaps not institutionalized racism (I assume not any more), but Catholic and many other churches certainly have institutionalized sexism and homophobia.

It seems clear from the assembled theological minds here in this august organ that what we are compelled to undertake is the erection of a true universal church. I would be honoured to advance my good name as prime minister of the ad hoc board in a temporary capacity (no more than ten years) untill such time as the manual is completed and herding has commenced.

And why not? You certainly couldn't do worse than leaders like the Pope or Pat Robertson. Who knows, you may even do better.
