In case you're not aware, even in Canada, people who have entered the country illegally, or under false pretences, get deported.
Why is it a crime for the US to do so?
I think Hillary Clinton is toast. She can't even get her own party to unite behind her and is fighting a vicious insurgency against the Democratic establishment in Bernie Sanders.
The main issue in this campaign is going to be Trade.. an issue that Hillary in hopelessly compromised on.. having negotiated and voted for Free Trade Agreements. She is married to the most radical Free Market President in Bill Clinton.. outdoing any Republican on the issue including Ronald Reagan.. since the Free Market revolution descended on us in the early 1970s. And it is failing catastrophically.
Given the extreme economic and social policies that now define the Democratic Party.. infested with feminist, euthenasia, radical (anti human) environmentalism, homosexual, transgender, monetarist, free trade, deregulatory, privatization ideologies (they look exactly like the Republican Establishment, a bastion of economic liberalism since the 80s, now).. Trump looks like a moderate who will garner the middle and mainstream electorate.
Trump is a moderate nationalist on Trade, a moderate dirigiste on Regulation and Stimulus, a mild progressive on Taxes and Social Equity, and a mild conservative on Culture, Family, Religion. Hillary is a raving zealot on all these issues. I expect Trump to win a comfortable plurality, if not a landslide in the General Election.
We might be looking at Paradigm shift in Trump.. of the policies of the last 50 years, in economic and cultural terms.. which have been a disaster. He is a pragmatist, unbound by ideology, which would give him immense flexibility in charting a course forward.
If he gets a highly respected Senator like Bob Corker of Tennessee, a moderate who garnered a grand total of 63% favourable voting record by the Conservative Union (trickle down, Reaganomic, Free Market, libertarian, NRA ideologues) he would get a powerful asset in dealing with Congress.
I KNOW Hillary is NOT smart enough to get Bernie Sanders onto her ticket. She's completely intimidated by him. And will go for some token of geographical balance and similar political philosophy. I think she's done like TOAST, before the general campaign even starts.

Fair question... in fact he seems quite comfortable with Canada doing that.

The difference with the USA is that they created the problem, (1) by getting involved in foreign politics and supporting corrupt leaders such as Saddam Hussien, Anwar Sadat, Carlos Salinas and the list goes on... and (2) US Corporations looking for cheap labor and hiring illegals, (3) an outdated immigration system.
Now the USA has 16 million undocumented aliens living in the USA, not all are from Mexico, the majority are people that overstay their visas and have flown in.
Canada is 1/10 the population of the USA. You basically have half of Canada's population living undocumented in the USA.
If the USA were to toss all of them out today, your economy would tank.

Um, I hate to burst your balloon but illegals don't necessarily get deported if they're here illegally. We let them go once they've assured us they'll attend a hearing and then disappear. We have thousands of unaccounted for illegals. And, if they do show up to a hearing, we cannot legally deport them if they have come from a country that is not stable or in a war zone. The Supreme Court has stated that once those little buggers touch our soil they have the same right as any Canadian that was born here.
So, while I wish that wasn't so, it is (unfortunately). (Not my opinion but fact).
