Nope, Morphine is still numero uno for major surgery.

Edit: Just to keep it clear, it's not anaesthesia, it's to control pain when you come out of the anaesthetic.

As my good friend and refugee from the early 70s once said after suffering (?) through a bowel imflamation....

"Good pain killers don't really kill the pain........they just make being in pain sorta groovy."

Has the thread run its course?

OK, let's review:

All religions have histories replete with apostasy, death, imperialism, savagery, and worse. No one group has a monopoly on these wicked matters. But there is much ignorance of each other's histories and grievances. One group calls itself the Religion of Peace, the other claims to worship the Prince of Peace. Unfortunately, both sides seem to hold double standards for each other. It is my hope that someday those standards will be set aside and that we will all be able to live in peace and reconciliation.

Let's hope that both groupings, however, will not wait for the other to take the initiative in bringing about that effort.

My sincere thanks to everyone for their participation in this illuminating (and, at times, volatile) discussion.

The problem is that in the news all we hear about are Muslin extremists and militants blowing themselves and others to kingdom come and not only in Iraq but other countries. We never hear about the normal Muslim who lives a "normal" life, gets an education and works at a regular job. I think this greatly influences people thinking about Muslims.

Just like you mentioned in your post that Muslim women going to the US find it not easy to go around having sex with many men. Maybe someone is not tell the truth because in the US and in Canada the majority of women do not have sex with different men. If this is the case the women need a course in sex education, they do not have to have sex with any man unless they want to. These women need to learn to say "NO". Who told them they had to act this way??????

So you see misinformation goes both ways. They only way this can be changed is if someone like you comes and tells us the other side, otherwise how are we supposed to know.

That is a choice that some women make but not all agree with this. There is not one line of thought but many, I personally never agreed with this line of thought. If a woman does not believe in having sex before marriage she is free to make that decision. The decision is hers and hers alone.

Thank you for your post, Libyano.

You certainly know my feelings from reading my posts. Despite all the controversy, I have seen some genuine change in the viewpoints expressed by certain participants in this forum -- changes that are for the better. My hope is that these posters will continue to show open mindedness and accept that Muslims have been misrepresented by much of the Western media. That the vast majority of Muslims want peace and reconciliation with the West. And that positive change can be brought about through meaningful discussion.

Call me an optimist, but I genuinely believe that good can ultimately result from this past conflict.

Peace to you.:angel8:
