Let's start with what we agree on, OK?

First, as long as there are significant differences in safety and prosperity in various countries/regions, some people will attempt to migrate.

Second, every country has the authority to say who may come and who may stay, including the status of people born in the country. It's a fundamental aspect of sovereignty. And of course the authority to enforce its decisions.

Third, there will be people who want to migrate illegally, and there will be people to take advantage of that by charging the migrants what little they have. And if those people ("coyotes") are outside the law, they have little reason to provide their services in a safe or effective manner.

I came to Canada in 1954 with my mom and dad at 2 years old. We were almost sent back because the man that had promised my dad a job didn't show up. Luckily, another man there needed people so signed for my dad. You didn't waltz across the border in those days and sign up for welfare and all the bennies. My dad worked his ass of at multiple jobs at times to make ends meet. Just sayin'

Don't you qualify for welfare?

Depends on the retirement package you got from work!
That is true. The company that I worked for 25 years packed up and ran back to the US......Pension was about 1/2 what it should have been, benefits were cut off the day we left.......but que sera sera.....
As a senior now, my drugs are paid mostly, no dental, no vision care etc.....Welfare recipients get all that.
I think I will just take a run up to Roxton Road.........Justin will help me

Northern Ontario,
Along with good planning I guess I was Lucky....
My pension was based on the last or best five years
And my last five years were on the highest paid job in my department
I'm by no means wealthy, But I can afford to put gas in the car!
