Don't be obtuse, I'm not in the mood.

Technically, as I live under English Common Law, yes, I am an Englishman to all rights and purposes.

All rights of Protestants were extended to Catholics in 1825, except for the right to sit on the English throne.

Besides, I was raised Baptist.

Praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition.

The law would still be struck down and you know it. Englishmen are people from England. Being born in Canada makes you a Canadian and British subject. As well, it still discriminates over gender, religion and origin. No chance in hell that it stands up against the 1982 Charter.

Here is another tidbit. The law states freedom to bear arms. Does that mean I have the right to have a nuclear device or a biological weapon? Technically they are types of arms? That is why it was called the arms race in the 1980's.

Hmm, you could always check out Old Fort York, but if you want a free gun, go open up a bank account in Michigan.

I'm willing to let Colpy have whatever kind of gun was state of the art in 1689. Hell, I'll even let him have a cannon if he wants.

Colpy, shoot the jackbooted gun nazis down like dogs when they come for you. This is *censored* ridiculous. You lefties like to complain about 'creeping fascism' in the US, but welcome it with open arms right in your backyards. Just look at the numbers, the vast majority of handgun owners are law-abiding citizens. This ban will do nothing to get the guns out of the hands of criminals. They'll have to pry my gun out of my cold dead hands!!

Ok, I don't have a gun, but maybe I'll go out and get one now!!

Can't shoot'em.

Probably know 'em.

Might be good friends.

And you are DEAD ON with the "creeping fascism" line of thought.

But handguns, the only reason to have them is to hunt humans.

That just isn't true, and we all know it. Hand guns are a defensive, short range, effective weapon. They fit nicely in a purse, or on your side.

oh, BTW, you can't use one part of the constitution to over ride another part of the constitution.

So therefore, only men from England who are either Catholic or protestant can have arms. Fine. There aren't many who fit the criteria around anyhow. Still I'd like to see this challenged in the Supreme Court and see what they say about a discriminating law.

Sorry.

Obtuse appears to be a natural state of mind with you.

The Bill of Rights is part of the foundation of English Common Law. It is constitutional law in every nation (NOT JUST ENGLAND!) that is ruled under English Common Law.

You can not use one part of our constitution to disallow another part of the constitution.

And, the right to keep and bear arms, here or in the United States, is restricted to personal arms of the same type that are used by the military or police. PERSONAL ARMS.

Where does it say that in the constitution? Do you mean there is another law that puts limits on the constitutional right? Good heavens, but the constitution say I have the right to bear arms, so how can the government restrict what arms I can bear? That is just insane!

So what happens in Quebec, they are under a different set of laws. No guns for them?

Sorry, I was called away.

In Britain, of course, this constitutional law has been subverted by the will of Parliament. In British law, Parliament is supreme. Here it is not.

Besides, if you think rights are granted by governments, then the entire discussion about any rights is laughable. These are Ancient rights, they have existed for longer than formalized institutions of government, they have been recognized as such, and let it be known, I will retain arms.

I don't give a damn what the government says.

I am a free man.

Yeah, also getting rid of that Chinese head tax was stupid too. There are a lot of Chinese people in Canada, think of how much money we could have made!

And now, continuing your education......

In Quebec, only civil law is different.

Criminal and constitutional English Common Law still applies.

Okay, so Criminals be aware, when you go rob Colpy, bring bigger and better guns. It will be like the old days with a good ol' shootout.

Well, the Supreme court consists currently of a bunch of meglomaniacal left wing Liberal appointees that believe they have the right to create law, and the right to strike down individual rights in favour of collective rights.........in other words, I don't give a rat's ass what they think.

Well after being so well educated, I think I'm going to go ahead and use my right to bear arms.

Being a scientist and having access to a lab and loads of chemicals, I think I'll go for some sort of biological device, but then living in the eastern GTA, I probably could get my hands on some spent Uranium from one of the two nuclear plants in the area. Hmmm, so many decisions to make.

In terms of guns, I'd like something automatic, I don't want to have to pause as I'm shooting (in defence of couse). Any suggestions?

Here's a suggestion, let these guys have all the guns they want, but just ban the ammunition needed for them. I mean, there is not law or constitutional right for that.

You don't know what I do for a living, do you?

I'm an armoured car guard.

You know, corner stores and Subway sandwich shops get robbed by armed guys regularly around here. This is one of the most violent cities in Canada. Usually they get $100 or so.

Funny thing. I can walk down the street with several hundred thousand bucks in my bag, and nobody tries to rob me.

I wonder why?

Must be my charm and good looks, seeing as any crook worth the name could get a "bigger and better" gun than the S&W revolvers we carry (patented 1899, believe it or not).

Don't tell me possession of arms doesn't prevent crime. I know better.
