Ok....but you have something to fear from someone who owns a hand gun?
Gertting shot, getting robbed, getting threatened...you know, ther usual things that guns get used for.
Police carry them too...I don't get it.
Police have a whole lot of explaining to do everytime they use their guns. They have guidelines and restrictions. They have special training. They still kill people wrongfully...by accident or on purpose depending on the situation.
Your accusing Blue of being a fear monger, but what is the left doing if not selling fear with this gun registry.
Selling responsibility. If you have to fear or to hide, then why are you afraid of the gun registry?
We on the right would relax guns laws, that’s how you keep a free nation, not by putting more cops on the street...you allow the citizens to defend themselves.
Why don't you ask the kids maimed at Columbine how free they feel? You are talking about relaxing restrictions on guns, after all. Presumably your model for this is the gun state to our south, since other developed nations retrict ownership.
Gun training and self-defense training are the answers to keeping a police state from coming in.
Bull-shit. You'll have people "defending" themselves in bars by shooting each other. You know how many bars I go to that have metal detectors on the way in? None. You relax gun laws though, and that goes away in a hurry. Of course the metal detectors will only keep the guns in the parking lot. That means you need more cops. It also means that those cops need to be better armed.
If you want a gun to hunt with, that's fine with me. If you are afraid to let the authorities know that you have that gun, I begin to get a little suspicious of your motives. When begin talking about relaxing laws on the ownership of presently restricted weapons like hand guns, alarm bells start to go off.
Increased access to guns is not a sign of freedom, it's a sign that you are trapped by fear.
