SirJosephPorter, I put about as much credence in the AP poll as you put in Rasmussen.

So here is one that we - hopefully - both can agree on:

According to Gallup Poll, Obama's favourable rating is 51%, unfavourable is 42%.

I'd say that is too close for comfort for such a Messianic personage.

I have no problem with that poll, YJ, that is what most polls show. But I find it interesting that at least one poll shows his approval has shot up to 56% (especially when the same poll put his approval at 50% just a month ago).

It would be interesting to see if other polls mirror these findings (Gallop etc.), or it is just an isolated poll. However, the poll is by no means partial to Obama (as Rasmussen is to Republicans). If you look at the link I posted, the numbers are pretty much in line with other polls.

He maybe half black and half white but its not too long ago that he would have had to sit in the back of the bus so technically he's half white but in reality he's treated by most Americans as 100% black

In the old South, during the days of strict segregation, the Southern states, the Bible Belt had the law that if you were 1/64th black, that made you black.

I don't believe he's ANY black. He's brown on my tv. Maybe a little browner than me but that doesn't make him black.
I think he's American-African. :D American by nationality and African by descent.

I think he is president of the USA.
Who really cares what color or skin tone he has?
Only racists and idiots care about such trivial details.
I believe I see both on each side of the fence.

Quote of the year!!!

Obama ''is rather marching black Americans into the past, into the shackles of slavery, into the misery of hatred, into the hovels of hopelessness. ''

HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

Definitely a keeper!

Stretch, correct me if I am wrong, but aren’t you an Australian? Why should Obama have to prove anything to you? For that matter, why should he have to prove anything to the birthers?
because....he's incharge of the most volitile country on this planet, mate....havent you noticed?

OK, but that still doesn’t answer the question as to why he should prove anything to you or to anybody else.

I think Obama is handling the birther issue just right. If courts ask him to produce the birth certificate, of course he will do so (though I assume not without appealing all the way to the Supreme Court). Anything short of that, he has been legally elected, he filed his election papers legitimately. Now it is nobody’s business about his birth certificate (except perhaps that of the courts).

As an aside, I don’t mind you calling me ‘mate’ ; I know that is an Australian slang (it means something like 'pal'). But perhaps some others might take offense.

(though I assume not without appealing all the way to the Supreme Court). Anything short of that, he has been legally elected, electronic voting in the states has been proven to be ummmmmmmm wots the word...... and here in oz and canada, we are still encouraged by the government, to use a pencil on a legal document.......LOL just a coincedence, nothing to worry about....... he filed his election papers legitimately. BULL****! any system can be corrupted.... Now it is nobody’s business about his birth certificate (except perhaps that of the courts).fine, why then did the courts lock it away?

What is wrong with having to provide conclusive proof as to your place of birth especially since by doing it he could put these insane accusations finally to rest.

And just to whom is he supposed to provide this ‘conclusive proof’? To the birthers? No amount of proof will convince the birthers, they want Obama out of office yesterday. Nobody except birthers is asking for any proof. Obama doesn’t have to prove anything to birthers. He can’t anyway, birthers will never be convinced that Obama is a US citizen.

Umm...that's done at the nomination stage, so I can only assume that you have no issues any more.

Thanks for putting this to rest.

LOL! That crazy lawyer-dentist who has tried to open up a legal case was threatened with a $10,000 fine for her frivolous lawsuit. Like it or not, Obama has proven his birth and citizenship.

CASE CLOSED.

Dear President Obama,
How outstanding that you've been recognized today as a man of peace. Your swift, early pronouncements -- you will close Guantanamo, you will bring the troops home from Iraq, you want a nuclear weapon-free world, you admitted to the Iranians that we overthrew their democratically-elected president in 1953, you made that great speech to the Islamic world in Cairo, you've eliminated that useless term "The War on Terror," you've put an end to torture -- these have all made us and the rest of the world feel a bit more safe considering the disaster of the past eight years. In eight months you have done an about face and taken this country in a much more sane direction.
But...

A picture tells a thousand words: an Afghan man harvests opium while US Alliance soldiers look on (see MSNBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3304034... ).
Russia, wracked with a major heroin addiction burden, is pleading with the US to eradicate Afghan opium crops that are responsible for over 90% of the world’s heroin (see World News, September 2009: http://article.wn.com/view/2009/09/... ).

Webmaster's Commentary:
Great Britain once fought a war with China over Britain's "right" to sell opium to the Chinese people.
Looks like the US Government might be doing the same thing when it attacks Iran.

You're missing the point: if he does, he's lowering himself to their level. BS is not worth responding to, even if you have a population full of crack pots that see the bs as legitimate.

Anyway, can see this thread is still going strong. Always good for a laugh.

I'll bet said 'con-man' is having second-thoughts--nothing like having to grin and bare it while your fellow Americans spout fascistic nonsense to make you want to go live in Denmark.
