Americans Protest Illegals as High-Profile Conservatives Pander

While we regular, cash-strapped taxpayers concerned about the well-being of our country stood on the overpasses Saturday protesting the total breakdown of our borders, where were a few of our stalwart conservative spokespeople and politicians? Were they holding anti-illegal immigration signs with ‘we the people’ on the National Day of Protesting Against Immigration Reform Amnesty and Border Surge?

No. Senator Ted Cruz, Rep Louie Gohmert, Glenn Beck, and Dana Loesch, among others, were in McAllen, Texas meeting with Rio Grande Catholic Charities Director Sr. Norma Pimentel just weeks after her very public visit with Nancy Pelosi. Not to be outdone by the Democrats, photos on The Blaze showed the media stars and politicians preparing food, handing out soccer balls and assisting church groups. Funny how it does not seem to bother them that the rest of us are being forced to pay for transportation, medical care, legal assistance, and housing for the recent surge of illegal aliens coming in droves. Nor do they seem worried about the dangers undocumented illegals pose to the country. If it did, wouldn’t they be with rallying with the protesters, instead of, in St. Paul’s words, partnering “righteousness with lawlessness?” Before the trip, Blaze and Fox News commentator Dana Loesch offered this explanation for her decision to help out at the border even though she is staunchly opposed to illegal immigration. The feisty liberal-turned-conservative sounds positively out of touch with the very people and issues she purports to champion.

John Boehner Finally Confirms Bush is Responsible for Immigration Crisis, Admits Obama is Trying to Fix It

I’m sure you won’t hear about this on Fox News or any other right-wing media source, but House Speaker John Boehner actually admitted that George W. Bush was the president responsible for the current immigration crisis at our border.
Not only that, but he basically admitted that Republicans are the reason why nothing is being done about it.

While checking Twitter, I ran across this post from Boehner:

Which linked this letter he wrote to the president.
In both, he admits that it’s the 2008 law that was signed by George W. Bush that caused this situation in the first place.
Boehner wrote, “One of their key recommendations is changing the 2008 law which created the disparate treatment for migrants from nations other than Mexico and made it more difficult to resolve this crisis.”
It should be noted that this law also pertains to Canada, but we know that when Republicans talk about immigration, they’re typically only referring to immigrants from south of the border.
But this comment is a direct contrast from the lies and misinformation conservatives like Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz and just about every other Republican have been spreading.

Even some on Fox News have tried to claim that President Obama actually “planned” this crisis.
Not only that, Boehner then admitted that it’s Republicans in Congress who are trying to use this crisis to force through immigration reform instead of dealing with this situation first, then moving on to reforming our immigration laws.
“The American people will not support providing additional money unless you work with both parties to address the causes of this tragedy,” he continued.
In other words, Republicans in Congress aren’t going to do anything to address this situation (making it easier to deport immigrants from non-contiguous countries) unless they can force the president to agree to some kind of immigration reform to which they know he won’t agree.
Though ironically the Senate passed a bipartisan immigration bill last year that Boehner refused to bring up for a vote in the House. So it’s rather hypocritical for him to act as if nothing has been done on immigration when he is one of the reasons why we didn’t pass immigration reform last year.
So, in this letter, not only did Boehner admit that George W. Bush’s 2008 law caused this situation, but he also admits that President Obama is actually trying to fix the law – but it’s Republicans in Congress who are refusing to do anything because they want to play partisan politics at the expense of these immigrant children.
I’m not sure what’s more stunning, to see Boehner admit that:
A law passed by Republican George W. Bush is what caused this crisis.
President Obama is actually trying to fix the law.
Republicans are trying to use these children to force through broad immigration reform that they know won’t get signed into law just so that they can say, “See, President Obama doesn’t want to do anything about it.”
But really no matter how you want to look at this letter, it essentially debunks just about every conservative lie Republicans have been using to attack President Obama concerning this immigration crisis.

Almost 8 years has gone by goph.

The time is long past for blaming Bush on the current failings

All too often we see right wingers accusing Obama of taking the law into his own hands. In this matter he is merely obeying the law handed down to him. As Republican Boehner has pointed out, it is the law. Therefore, you might try saying that to him as he is the one quoted in that link.
