What's funny?

Is in any thread concerning the enviroment, the denier crowd will toss out the names of Gore and Suzuki like it's some sort of trump card.

No one here is defending either one of them, Suzuki is a biologist and Gore is a politicain either has anything to do with climatology.
I didn't say anything about funny and I know they like to flail those names around as if they were weapons. I was explaining just what hypocrisy was and how it applies to those people. Personally, I don't give a hoot about either one of them although Suzuki has at least a solid background in scientific method.

Sorry, it wasn't an attack on what you said.

I think the way I presented it may have sounded that way.

It was just an observation.

AnnaG opined:

"Plants do not consciously control how much CO² or O² they release; we can control ours."

If I were a liberal I would say: Then why don't you stop breathing?

And you'd be trolling and off-topic. I'm glad you aren't a liberal. :)

Nobody is quiet regarding A Gore, YJ. Gore is respected universally for his work in promoting global warming awareness (he got the Nobel Prize for that, much to the disgust of right wing extremists)).

And we have discussed this before. it is nonsense to compare his carbon footprint with yours and mine, and then claim it is too high. How does his carbon footprint compare with others with similar income? Is it higher than them or lower than them? Unless you have that information, it is nonsense to talk about his carbon footprints.

Thus my carbon footprint is going to be much larger than that of an impoverished man living in the third world, with no access to running water, no electricity, no mode of transport except walking. That means nothing, my footprint must be compared with those who have similar income as me.

The same applies to Gore. How does his carbon footprint compare with that of Rush Limbaugh, Bill Bennett, George Bush? Unless you have this information available (and you don't), it is nonsense to chatter endlessly about Gore's footprint.

You have not validated the claim of hypocrisy with any solid evidence.
You can look up and compare anyone you want, we all are leaving a carbon footprint. If you talk the talk, you better be able to walk the talk, especially those in hi profile like Al Gore (BIG carbon footprint), after all except for being rich what has he really done.

This is kind of a weird Thread in that the first dozen or so posts here where
dumped together here to create this Thread, and to get them out of another
Thread to get that one back On-Topic. That other Thread wasn't about the
"Carbon Footprints of Al Gore or George Bush."

That's why the O.P. seems so lop-sided in one direction of blame, as it was
originally post #85 or so from a different Thread. Anyway, that's where this
whole Topic & Thread came from.
