by quoting what I post and posting scriptures after it, I am left to believe you are using bible passages to prove your point.
It isn't intended to be a complete answer but it is subject oriented so it does have a place in a reply when the topic is the book and what is inside it. With 'the gap' we have it would be better if most of our time was spent in looking at the book itself rather than what is in it.

66 'chapters' written by 40 men over a very long period of time cannot write a book that follows the same form. The A-bomb secrecy was no tighter than that.

You also have Daniel who admits several time that he doesn't have a clue what he is writing about. All that points to something 'unusual'. The Jews may have been the scribes but their understanding is based on writing that made certain conclusions that were arrived at before all the text was in. Rather than offend their memory it has stayed that way so no wonder the messages are garbled.
If God has a bunch of children killed to show us what the term the 'land of the enemy' is then why is it never done and then the books gets the blame for the confusion. There is so much irony in there that it isn't funny.

Oh yeah almost forgot. With universal salvation being the 'rule' for 'all flesh' it is pretty hard to rob people of money and say it is for their salvation make the 'experts' rather slimy no matter how you look at it. That is the reason for all the 'confusion' and it very intentional and by the very same people that are supposed to be closest to God.

Not trying to be smart but there are some poetic verses that cover that part also. Even my version could be deceptive but posting the verses usually tones down the blanket rebuttals that have no references themselves. The fact is I could disappear at any time and that shouldn't mean you miss reading the passages that inspire certain types of thinking. If you see something move to the right and 50 people say it moved to the left you should stand your ground

It's fun to watch crazy people fight.
Miss the Courtroom that much do you?

All gods and religions are myths created by people seeking power and believed by people that have no faith in their own self.

The Western religions push obedience while the Eastern ones mostly push enlightenment.

Did your statement include the Eastern religions?

Scholars, and all kinds of learned people have been trying for centuries to analyze and understand the Bible,

And we're supposed to take the Frenchpatriots, Cliffys, megahurts, Motars....etc. of internet forums seriously???
You really want to claim the experts' have been looking at the book as a mystery when they started off with a higher level of understanding than we have today.
They can't even figure out that the Gospel of John is named for John the Baptist, the only one with the name 'John' that is mentioned in the book yet us few are the deceivers and liars because we challenge the 'established understanding' who have shown themselves to be liars and thieves for the last 1500 years.

Your post shows where you belong though, incapable of independent thinking and critical analysis of the topic at hand as it applies to all important topics. If you don't think the world is full of liars then you are probably one yourself. Not a great leap as trolls all lie to a certain extend.

I regard all religions much the same. SOme are relatively benign and some are downright dangerous. Many religions or cultures if you prefer have multiple gods. SOme have only one. To date not one has proven that their god(s) exist yet the western ones particularly fight about who has the best god. Can't all be right. Can all be wrong though.

Good way for the elite to not have to lower their standard of living so the lowest can be raised a tad. In Nepal the poorest people would fare better in an ongoing disaster just because they are used to using their own hands to get the tasks needed to survive another day.

You pretty much got a lock on insanity in your family didn't you?

Or you for that matter.
You should give a bit of warning before you turn somebody to dust like that, next time, this one is perfect as it stands. lol

Thanks for clearing that up.

I agree that it is the idol worshiping Westernized Christians and Muslims who are the most dangerous.

"Whoever imagines himself a favorite with God,
holds other people in contempt.
Whenever a man believes that he has the exact truth from God,
there is in that man no spirit of compromise.
He has not the modesty born of the imperfections of human nature;
he has the arrogance of theological certainty and the tyranny born of ignorant assurance.
Believing himself to be the slave of God,
he imitates his master,
and of all tyrants,
the worst is a slave in power."

By eastern religions, which ones did you mean, Christianity wasn't started in the west.

QUOTE]

True but it is the West's major religion.

The Eastern ones I had in mind were Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism. Generally speaking, those religions who recognize that their traditions are myth based. They seem to seek wisdom and do not fear their Gods.

FFS, your in the spirituality & philosophy forum. You post zebra pic's. Those who you are attempting to belittle are on topic and are enjoying a back and forth discussion about a topic they enjoy. If you don't enjoy it, go find another area of forum.

Then you are agreeing with my saying that I don't take those discussions seriously......It's just that you don't like my doing so!

Well, ya gotta admit, titling the thread "The Bible. Myth or Reality?" is kinda trawling for trolls.

Well, ya gotta admit, titling the thread "The Bible. Myth or Reality?" is kinda trawling for trolls.
So what if it attracts trolls they would all be on the 'myth' side which would fit that the book is a spiritual guide rather than a book that is about literalism, such as would be suggested by this reference and many others. That 'many other' would allow me to post something new while the myth side is pretty much stuck with one line. Repeating it endlessly makes you stupid as well as ill informed if the verse below is new information.

Isa:42:9:
Behold,
the former things are come to pass,
and new things do I declare:
before they spring forth I tell you of them.

M't:24:3:
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives,
the disciples came unto him privately, saying,
Tell us,
when shall these things be?
and what shall be the sign of thy coming,
and of the end of the world?

Now...who would be the idiot......The pompous armchair philosopher ? or the guy laughing at that pitiful excuse pretending to be an intellectual giant?
It was so wonderful to see you get dusted yesterday, literally. Perhaps the literal version freaks people out so much as they don't anything but wrath. Hebrews:12 is pretty clear that that is the first introduction to a literal version, what is ignored is that it last for a blink of an eye and it is replaced by peace of mind as is only possible with a literal God.
The people in Nepal had peace of mind, it didn't help when rocks were falling down. If living in Canada gives you peace of mind that is fine, that doesn't mean you are safe from death reaching out and taking you at any time. It is a trip most people will make, the only exception are repented people who are doing one thing right consistently, without that being part of you daily life you are destined to enter the grave before salvation takes hold of you. A certain number of people will survive the 5th, 6th and 7th trumps with their breath intact.
It only matters what you are doing when the 7th trump sounds rather than what you were doing before. If you think I'll be sad if you don't understand that you have that part wrong also.
If trolling is the goal I could post something that would allow you to do that. I'll even admit right now that in 'hind-sight' my actions seem rather stupid, however compared to Judge Little I'm a lot smarter than he is, or so I think. You would be the best judge of that right? Don't want you running off like you did yesterday. My cheeks are still burning, same as yours, looks good on you.
