I'm serious, Momsie. His crime made no sense...he knew the cameras were there and he knew the business knew that he was looking at the ring. He knew he'd be caught.
He demonstrated remorse, was diagnosed with a verified mental illness, sought treatment, and performed community service. As a respected member of the community he was unlikely to recommit.
What he got was a pretty common sentence for those circumstances.

You are Right Momsie, Svend should have been jailed, or at least placed in a mental institute. This is just another example of the leftist movement, NDP/Liberal, getting away with crime. I suppose they think it is ok to steal, or it is their God given right, power hungry bastards. Reverend Blair is obviously NDP, and the NDP in his eyes can do no wrong. Other wise he would condemn common theft as a crime, that should be looked down upon. If this was a Conservative, he would be yelling and shouting for his resignation. The government needs a clean bill, no more corruption. The Liberals have proven they are incapable, and the NDP is so left, it leaves a sickening feeling in many Canadians, they will never honestly be a threat to Canadian politics. The Svend case is an example of heavy theft from a public servant (even if it was not public funds). If not jailed, he should be kept in a mental institute for evaluation and his own mental safty.

The Conservatives are sounding more and more desperate. Why is a Conservative from Toronto attacking a politician from BC who is running in a riding where the CPC is not a real factor? Because he/she knows that the NDP are hurting the CPC in other ridings.

Actually I'm thoroughly disappointed in the Conservative Party. They're just another chip off the old Liberal block.. just a pack of neo-conservatives (an exact equivalent of neo-liberals)
And, Reverend and Peapod, I want to get some honourable people back in Parliament. Let Svend stay out in BC, with his male (husband/wife/partner.. whatever :? ) and his pension that an average working man in Canada cannot dream of making .. because we've been so badly governed.. and have such low class politicos swilling at the trough.
As to 'sexual preference', if someone is as confused as Sven about his gender, about natural law, about politics in general.. that'll show up in how well the country is managed. Even if he's only a small and lilting voice in Parliament.

Svend has a recognised mental illness that has been treated. Yelling, "Thief" is kind of a laughable response for somebody supporting a party that has been stolen from its own grass roots by a corporate opportunist.
