Super moon tonight

Tonight we'll have a very bright full moon. Apparently the moon will be closer than usual. There are some who say the moon is responsible for the quakes in Japan.

Scientists say Earthlings will be treated to a ``super full
moon'' as it moves closer to earth than at any time since 1993.

As a result, the lunar landscape will appear 14 per cent bigger
and 30 per cent brighter than usual.

OUt here it was overcast, so I saw nothing but reflected street lights. I was
hoping someone took some pictures and posted them.

I had a good view right out my front window, and like Unforgiven said I didn't see any difference from any other full moon, and in the middle of the night, I happened to get up..(too much coffee before bedtime) and the back yard wasn't lit up by moonlight any more than usual....

It was big and bright here but way too cold to get nekkid and chase crazy whimens who didn't show up either.

I took a couple of pictures of the moon last night, just to document the date, and why, but to the
naked eye it was no different than many times before, but nice and clear and bright.

The moon was slightly closer so it was slightly larger, and brighter. Astronomers using radar would know how
much closer and how much brighter. I think we have to trust them on this....:smile:

It was overcast here but the night before was pretty cool. It still doesn't come close to harvest moon though. Not by a long shot.

I know and i was quite pissed. I went outside around 1 to take a piss and was quite pissed it didnt look any different. But i do remember it was really bright

A little reading maybe.......It was the closest approach to Earth of the moon in about twenty years so it was better than the
Harvest Moon.

The size of the rise was no where near like Sept but it was damn bright.

For those further south of us it would have been spectacular. But for us nothing beats June to Sept.
