Regina city council voted to deny an application for a bar that would feature exotic dancers following an intense presentation of opinions from concerned groups and citizens Monday night


A packed city council gallery erupted with a standing ovation in response to the decision. Most delegations spoke against the proposed club.


After his application was denied, businessman Bryan Gottfredsen said Regina is just not ready for adult entertainment, adding he may have been defeated by a vocal minority.

The city of Regina couldn't but no matter where you go there would be some municipal government that could stand in your way.

I think the problem here is that Hutterite women won't get up on stage and dance without their men folk and that would fly afoul of liquor laws.

OK, they need to build in the south west part of the city, near the ariport..

They can build outside the city limits, get business visitors, and some industrial clients and be close to the city bypass for easy access to the club..

The county is not as restrictive as the city.

Just out of curiosity, do we really need a strip club. If the city of Regina has turned it down, why do we want them to have the damned thing?
