We are asking the wrong question about global warming. All that needs to be determined is whether or not the rate at which greenhouse gases are being added to the atmosphere exceeds the rate at which nature can eliminate them. Any gradual increase, no matter how small, leads to only one outcome; a gradual increase in world temperatures. If that is indeed the case it might be a good idea to do something about it rather than wait until it is too late to react.

Which it is not.

Which it is not.
By continually repeating your little mantra does not make it true. The rate at which toxic poisons are being poured into the atmosphere and water systems is greater than the earth can absorb. Many diseases are becoming epidemic, especially respiratory ones like asthma. The environment is toxic and will kill us faster than global warming. Deniers are just speeding up the process by preventing any meaningful change in out consuming habits. Greed and ignorance are humanity's worst enemies.

So cliffy the problem is pollution then .
Maybe you can let Anna and Tonington know.

I can't believe you actually misunderstood me, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

No, I understand what you say just fine. It's just that the things you say aren't an accurate depiction of reality.

As you should know, that graph is actually two graphs, one showing temperature changes and the other showing CO2 concentrations.
One graph, three series on the graph.

In order to demonstrate a relationship (or lack thereof) between two disparate entities, it is common practice to superimpose graphs on one another, and that has been done in this case. Both graphs have the same elapsed time as their horizontal axis which is necessary for any comparrison. The graph showing temperature change has its vertical axis on the left, and the graph showing CO2 concentrations has its vertical axis on the right.
Yes, I know that. I've actually made these graphs before. You, I doubt you know how to even do that with Excel. Whom are you explaining this for? it has nothing to do so far with what you claimed the anomaly baseline was.

In order for a comparrison to be seen, both graphs must show a beginning relationship. In this case, since the CO2 graph line begins at 365 ppm in 1998, that is where the baseline 0 for the temperature variations was placed. That makes it very easy to see both in the temperature graph line itself, and the temperature gradients of the left vertical axis just what the relationhship (if any) is to the increase in CO2 concentrations.

Got that now?
Well, here again is where I show that you don't know what you're talking about. If the anomaly baseline is chosen to correlate to a carbon dioxide concentration of 366 ppm, then the temperature anomaly should be zero in the year that this occurs. Check your graph again.

What is the temperature anomaly when CO2 is 366ppm? Up near 0.6 and 0.8°C. Obviously, the baseline for the anomalies is not correlated to an atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration of 366 ppm. That's just plain stupid.

You don't know what the hell you're talking about.

Public Service Announcement:

If any of you still thought Extra was worth listening to, this should be the final nail in that coffin. He talks a good game, but he doesn't actually know what he's talking about. That's pretty clear.

My first time on this thread, because the title caught my eye. Read thru most of the post, and found that as usual, the posts have nothing to do with the topic.

Moderators, WAKE UP!!

What peeked my interest in the title was that I thought that this thread would be about how socialists (aka Democrats) are beginning to realize that their Messiah, the phony messenger of Hope and Change, has failed to deliver. How they realize that Obama has been the least prepared and most unqualified person to hold the office of the Presidency. How they see that the Senate seat they thought was forever bequeathed to the failed swimming instructor beached whale and thankfully dead Ted Kennedy, is almost inevitably going to a Republican.

Now, THAT would be enough to send them into panic!

Speaking on the topic are you?

Twenty-four pages in....we're aware of the Thread & it's contents. The American's
Democrat's are pretty far off to the Right of being Socialists, as they're also pretty
far off to the Right of Canada's Conservatives even. Anyway, this thread isn't
really about the Political Spectrum. We're awake, more or less....;-)
