If you ain't got the money, you should lose your house and die.
No, no, it's the responsibility of government to shield you from each and every possible problem you may ever face, bear the burden of your bad decisions as well as bad luck, and make certain you never hear anything that offends you. Cradle to grave, in sickness and in health, in addiction and in laziness, in welfare and in crime.

It was the responsibility of any government to spread inividual risk among a larger population. In the beginning they had great granaries to store food for the lean times. We grouped together governments to provide defence for us ...the chieftan can accumulate much more military clout than any one individual of us can do on our own. Instead of each of us being a one man army, we combine our efforts. Now, we combine our buying power so that if one of us is sick, the others cover them and it is eventually reciprocated. We call all of this "Civilization" and it is why he species has been so successful. We spent the first 90,000 years as lone wolf, Ayn Randites, then we invented civilization ( most of did, anyway).

The Libertarians who inhabit the political margins are essentially gussied up, right wing anarchists.

Hurray Obamacare!

ObamaCare Cancer Patients Losing Hospital Coverage | The Daily Caller

Out of shame and embarrassment the NYC Mayor had to find alternative plans to cover this mess up.

So 214,000 people just lost their health insurance. Other than the 114 that NYC will cover, they must now go back and find health insurance.

Now how... HOW did the second largest health care provider in NY go out of business? Obamacare was supposed to solve everything.

What a disaster.

Officials said that because MetroPlus is a cheaper insurance plan than Health Republic, patients will actually save money — paying $46 to $117 less per month for a silver level plan.

Oh great! A class based health care plan will be cheaper. Of course the co-pay and deductibles will be astronomical and they will be offered less services with limited health care providers.

New York State has Medicaid so this is actually no problem.

I am not a fan of Canada's health care system, but almost anything is better than what the US has. Looked at from the perspective of a conservative, the US's confusing array of public and private systems consume a tremendous amount of money, far and away more than anyone else on the planet, yet with health outcomes that are often well down the list when compared to other countries who pay far less. To any conservative that says INEFFICIENCY in great big red letters. Somehow, the Europeans got it right. Canada, because its quixotic prime minister had a thing for Castro, got it wrong, and the Americans just totally lost control.

I used to be quite critical of the system too, but not anymore. I've had a couple of medical emergencies in the past three years spending a total of about 27 days in two hospitals and undergoing numerous procedures, my problems were quickly identified and resolved and today with some prescriptions I am in very close to perfect health. Everything that could possibly be done to ensure my successful and long term recovery was done and periodic testing is done like clock work. For this coverage including my wife I pay $130.50 per month (what some couples could easily spent on a night out at the bar) For what we're getting I'd gladly pay $50 a month more, but that's O.K. the Sally Ann or the War Amps can use the money. I used to think we'd be better off with private insurance but not anymore- with B.C. medical most things are covered.

To whom do you pay the $130?
