Facebook and twitter are about as reliable as talking to someone. On the plus side, the message is controlled by the individual rather than someone like Ruprt Murdoch. Also you have potentially millions of sources, rather than the 2 or 3 which control the MSM.

The important concent being, as our Marshall McLuhan pointed out, the "medium is the message". Even if a creep like Robert Murdoch gets his "internet ID", I don't think that is going to change the fact that the internet is a low-capital populist-based venture which allows anyone to post their opinion or make known an international event. Egyptian bloggers reported on the protests before MSM could even scramble a team.

Yuuup and that is why I can say that it was a cross cultural and cross religious youth uprising instead of some boogeyman lead anti- Jew thing.

The facts got out before the MSN could taint the truth.
The MSM is irrelevant thanks to social media..

Exactly, FaceBook and Twitter have shown their relevance in being a powerful tool..

So you can pick only the ones that parallel your way of thinking and afterwards you can claim impartiality

Thanks so much to everyone here who helped me understand how and why these uprisings came about, I really appreciate the input.

Did a little searching on my own today and found this article which I thought I would throw in for discussion.

http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/TopStories/20110304/gerald-celente-worldwide-insurrection-forecast-110306/

"We had forecast that there would be a wave of protests raging throughout the world in response to three elements: high unemployment, draconian austerity measures and corruption," Celente explains in a telephone interview.

"What you're seeing in North Africa and the Middle East is the same three elements," he insists. "It has nothing to do with autocracy or democracy."

Instead, Celente says anyone who sees the world as he does will recognize that there's actually a form of neo-feudalism at work, pitting oppressed "peasants" against a rich ruling class unwilling to share the wealth.

"You have people between the ages of 18 and 30, their hormones are raging, and they're raging mad. You've got no limits at that age, you're not afraid of anything and you have nothing to lose," he says. "The difference is, these peasants are educated, they know the deal."

Some background on Gerald Celente for those not familiar with the man.

It's more likely to occur in certain countries,
a youth in Eastern Europe makes $200 a month and he doesn't have video games, beer and pot to keep him quiet and entertained.

It's hard to see anything coming off the ground in Canada or the United States, where young white males are often more concerned about the latest release of Call of Duty than the prospect of being able to afford a home and start a family... bunch of wankers

They'll get off their asses when their bellies are empty and they can't handle the pain.

Ummm...
it wouldn't take starvation. If the Government turned off the internet or shut off the power; thus the Xbox Consoles won't power up, than you might hear the typical 25 yearold starting to bitch about the lack of cold beer and Halo.

Oh yeah, they'll be playing with their "wee" alright but after a couple of minutes they'll have to find something else to do. Nothing like an old fashion riot to keep the boredom at bay
