Agreed. There was a time when government funding was needed to provide the broadest possible coverage of a very thinly-scattered population.
Radio is still needed in the north and around the country.
Really, have you been to the north? There are plenty of places where there is nothing but radio in almost every province.
CBC radio needs to go. Or at minimum be cut off the taxpayer tit. Unless bunch of Torontocentric yap shows and biased news.
Not really. We have this thing called Satellite Radio. Can get anything you want. Music, Sports, yap shows, news. Even government propaganda if you want.
That is why I don't listen. Mostly garbage with a strong left bias, or a long winded monologue on Aunt Martha's pecan jam.
Never listen to her. You ever been stuck for three weeks in a place where CBC is the only thing you can get? Totally irrelevant to life on the BC coast. And know that this is your tax dollars being pissed away like this?
Of course. What do you think is airing right now on the Island? Something from Toronto or something being broadcast a few KM from your home?
Like the school system it has evolved into being all about the jobs. Tax payer pays the tab.
Most places have satellite internet and wifi . Driving wise sure lots of dead areas ,
No local news, weather or programming.
Nope , I know between population Centers there is little coverage . Having music etc to listen to helps .
