Disagree all you want, it's not an apt comparison.
Yes it is.

A rock fell.
No it didn't, it was vandalized, purposely pushed over.

Making an excuse for said vandalism, rings hollow.

Comparison, apt.

It's not comparable to smashing a car up.
Yes it is, vandalism is vandalism.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be held accountable, but, 'I have to admit, if they could do it that easily, it would have happened anyway.'
I watched the video again after you said that the first time. "easily" is a relative term, it appeared to have taken a good amount of effort to me.

If one were to view you and I pushing over the same large object, who do you think would look like they did it with ease?

when it comes to a boulder that size, if either of us could move it at all, it's moving pretty easily.

I could really care less to argue at length with you about it because in the end I think they deserve whatever fines the government lobs their way.

Yep, and apparently there are thousands more of them still to see.

This isn't a case of murder or rape or robbery. A rock got moved 15 feet. Somehow this event is a major crime. So the rock is far more important than the life of the man who could wind up with severe restrictions and negative impact for the rest of his life. It is a joke! The worst that should happen to him is a "please don't do that again", not being made a felon.

Hey, as long as the fattt BOYZ pay to put it back the way it was, I'm happy.

ramps, ropes, and hired hands should do it.

Good example to other Scout leaders

LEAve nothing but footsteps, take nothing but -VIDEOS..and Post them.

Since when did a natural occurrence in nature become property of the govt. What next, they going to claim ownership of the ocean and the fish in it, maybe claim ownership of the clouds in the sky and the wind that moves them? It is a rock, why don't you get that? I have moved many rocks while hiking and climbing. I have driven pitons into rocks and pried away loose ones to get a better foothold. I have cut plants and moved branches and rocks to make camp.

This is not a national catastrophe. These guys don't deserve jail or even a fine or community service. They deserve a request to not do it again because in the end it was a rock and they own it as much as anyone else.

We don't need them. They do not do anything to sustain human life. Hell they don't do anything to sustain plant or animal life either. They really are nothing important at all.

While I can see your point Nick, they displayed poor judgement and poor leadership. It's like the Chinese kid who damaged a 3000 year old artifact. Where's the common sense and respect and appreciation for something not theirs to destroy?

Not their highest hour.

I think you are right Sal. It was poor judgement and inconsiderate. If either of those are now to be a crime they probably will need to put walls around a few countries because we will need jails that big to hold everyone. Maybe just wall off the planet because there are very few humans who have never shown poor judgement or been inconsiderate.

I don't want them jailed but they do need some help to understand what they did, why it was wrong and cleaning up some parks for quite some time and doing some school presentations on respect for our parks would be great
