I witnessed a partial autopsy as part of my ambulance training, I say partial, because the coroner found the cause (A burst aneurism) right away....... they usually only showed a film but that time, someone had died in the hospital within hours of being admitted, and when they saw my interest in the procedure, they figured I wouldn't pass out at the first bloodied victim of a highway accident.

The American left loves Western European democracies for their cultural sensibilities and for their policies on everything from crime to health care. One policy area where you won’t hear American liberals cite the European example, though, is abortion.
The reason is simple: Abortion law is far more restrictive in Europe than in the United States. As the table below shows, 16 of 18 countries on the continent limit abortion to the first trimester of pregnancy(with certain exceptions in various countries). The banning of late-term abortions now being considered in the House of Representatives and some American states would seem only civilized to most Europeans.
Not to U.S. liberals, who call “extremism” the attempt by some in Congress to promote a bill banning abortions after 22 weeks. A similar bill in Texas is “a sweeping assault on women’s rights,” in the words of the Nation. Yet even these bills—in the unlikely event they became laws—would be among the most permissive in the Western world.
Indeed, only Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands would have more permissive laws. Even anti-Catholic France bans abortion at 12 weeks, nearly 3 whole months before the gestational limit in the House bill. By international standards, Republican efforts to ban late abortions are anything but conservative—they are fringe left.

I'm not sure on 12 weeks. Quite a few women do not even realize they are pregnant for 2 or 3 months so would have little time to make a very important decision. I think 16-20 weeks is probably a fair restriction and would support legislation to that effect. Anything past 20 weeks should only be for medical circumstance.
they have tests now that can determine almost within hours, 12 weeks with our kind of technology should be tons of time to contemplate what should be done... within a few days would actually be best, except of course where it is an issue of health, that can not be limited
That doesn't mean all women will use them. My younger sister got prego while using birth control and had her period (though it was really small) for 2 months after the fact. I was surprised to find out many women will still 'spot' at that time of the month for the first 2 or 3 months.
yes that can be a problem for some for sure
12 weeks would take care of most though and if people knew they had a small window, they would test earlier
