Researchers have begun looking into the possibility that the root of a
danelion could cure certain types of cancer.
Dr. Siyaram Pandey with the University of Windsor explained they began
looking into it when a colleague saw a decrease of cancer cells in a couple
of elderly patients who suffered from a very resistant form of cancer.
"She found that the blast count of cancer cells in their blood had gone
down. She was quite surprised. That was when she called me." he said.
"She asked them what did they do, and they said they were taking dandelion
root tea."
Pandey said he was skeptical, but found that an extract from the root of the
weed targets cancer cells without harming regular cells.
They now hope to have conversations with Health Canada to begin stage
one clinical trials.
