Researchers have begun looking into the possibility that the root of a
danelion could cure certain types of cancer.

Dr. Siyaram Pandey with the University of Windsor explained they began
looking into it when a colleague saw a decrease of cancer cells in a couple
of elderly patients who suffered from a very resistant form of cancer.

"She found that the blast count of cancer cells in their blood had gone
down. She was quite surprised. That was when she called me." he said.

"She asked them what did they do, and they said they were taking dandelion
root tea."

Pandey said he was skeptical, but found that an extract from the root of the
weed targets cancer cells without harming regular cells.

They now hope to have conversations with Health Canada to begin stage
one clinical trials.

When we were kids, we'd pick a dandelion and hold it uner the chin of a friend and shout, "You like butter!" it is great to see it have additional uses other than wine, ersatz coffee, salads, bouquets for mum, or lawn ornaments.

The paper I read on this a few years ago was very detailed in how to prepare it, a normal kitchen and you even were supposed to leave a tiny bit of the black soil attached to the root and they stressed that part in particular.

Nope, just that is was included so it might be about minerals and or bacteria. If you come across something that takes about 10 steps to prepare on a kitchen counter that should be the same recipe, it should be based on something from the First Nations folklore. (i might haver that last part wrong, it was some time ago and I read it only once)

Actually I think this is the article.(in part)

To make the powder from the dandelion root you must follow my directions to the letter. Any changes and it won't work. Dig a handful of dandelion roots any time of the year, it doesn't matter. Cut the leaves off just below the crown. DO NOT WASH. Then they must be dried around 100 degrees. I do it in an incubator with no water. You can also dry them under a heat light bulb if you raise or lower it so it's 100 degrees. You can also use the sun or put them in the attic if it's not too hot. It takes about 5 or 6 days in the incubator. I have not done this all the way under the heat light. When you break a root and it snaps it is ready to powder. Take an old iron frying pan and a clean hammer. Take one root at a time and place in the frying pan and start tapping. Don't hit hard or it will fly all over the place. I put my hand around the root to keep most of it in the pan. If it sticks to the hammer and pan, and doesn't crumble in your fingers, it isn't dry enough. Keep it up until you have enough to start. It takes about 20 minutes to ? hour to prepare enough for a week. When you get used to it you can go much faster.

lol Nutritional info of dandelion: (based upon 55 g serving in a 2000 calorie per day diet and %age of recommended daily requirements) Vit A = 112%, Vit C = 32%, Calcium = 10%, Iron = 9%. Vit A is useful against preventing certain cancers as is Vitamin C, so it isn't particularly a stretch to think than they can be involved in treatment of cancers.
I'd say it's about time people started researching the effects after we've known about vitamins since about the turn of the last century. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeezez

Fresh is better than store-bought isn't it? Too bad the stem couldn't transfer the good stuff just by using it as a straw or wearing a few chained together as a bracelet.

Raw is minimally better. Fresh is better taste-wise. Mostly it is just the leaves and roots that are used.
We like dandelion leaf salads here. Dried and ground root is a great herb in some cooked foods.

They can come to my place in spring and early summer. Dandelions are everywhere in the orchard.
They are useful in the Thrips love dandelion blossoms first and apple blossoms second so I don't cut
them until after bloom, There must be a million of the little buggers every year.

Its a weed. Does anybody seriously think this is going to go anywhere, especially if it works? No patent, no test. No money in a cure anyway. Like all other cures, Big Pharma will kill it. Probably have the government make dried dandelion root illegal to possess like they tried to suppress comfrey root.

Canola started out as a weed. Too bad the cure wasn't as easy as spreading some of that yellow above the diseased spot and that was it , 2 weeks later cure is a done deal. If only .....

Dandelion root is a registered drug in Canada, sold principally as a diuretic. A hepatoprotective effect of chemicals extracted from dandelion root has been reported.[31] Drunk before meals, dandelion root coffee is claimed to stimulate digestive functions and function as a liver tonic. Wikipedia

As I've shown you time and again, there are plenty of examples of registered drugs that you say big pharma would never register. I believe last time it was cannabinoids, of which there are registered drugs...this time you saved me the trouble...
