We had a mini heat wave here last week. Not like some of you experienced, but it was hot for us. We don't usually break the 30C mark around here.

What I did was to foil the windows were the overhang of the roof did not block the Sun's direct radiation. The foil with the shiny side out reflects all the heat back out side and kept the inside of the house cool to the point I could shut off the AC unit completely.

The concept is the same as the shiny reflecters you see people put in their car window after they park them for the day.

If you take some cardboard, cut to fit your window and glue aluminum foil to the cardboard, the panels will be removable. With any luck you have windows the same size so as the Sun moves around the house you just have to move the panels from one window to the next.

Looking like a 'BUG hiding from radio waves' can help you save $100's of dollars a month and help you be more comfortable while doing it.

Enjoy.

Forgat to mention to make sure you clean the inside of your windows good before you put the tin in the window. The little specks of dirt will absorb the radiation from the sun and heat the inside of the window (house). This is the same as carbon specks on the snow collecting heat to melt the Artic snow.
