All morning the words of Thomas Paine have been bouncing around my head..........'these are the times that try men's souls..' and women's I might add. It is really tough being Green right now. 5 and zip to start our season and now we might have lost another QB for the season.........though from what I have seen, it isn't much of a loss.

I feel for the guys who are doing their best our there on the turf. Guys like Weston and Ryan - welcome back kid. Bagg and Getz are showing up too but where is our D? Where is our offensive line? Why is Corey wearing 2 hats because he obviously needs a defensive coordinatcoor after this last abysmal effort.

So where do we go from here? I have never been a supporter of clubs that fire their coach mid-season but I might be ready to join the bandwagon soon. Taman better dip into the funds right now and get us some help in the form of a QB at the very least because the way things are going those funds may start to dry up fast when fans fail to show up for games.

I may bleed Green but after 5 straight losses this old bod is slowly being bled dry.

BC won the grey cup with 0 and 5 at the beginning of season. In 13 SK lost 5 in a row and won the grey cup.

It's not the fault of the coach for so many injuries.

For me yesterday was a double whammy. I was 1 number off from winning $35K on the 50/50 draw.

0 and 6...........this just sucks. And that is what it will be for my Riders when the final whistle blows. We may have an entire quarter ahead of us but from what I've seen, Brett needs way more time, the defense needs to sharpen up, the offensive line needs to step up, the coach has to smarten up and our kicker needs to tone it down a bit ...........though those kicks to the end zone might also fall on the coaches shoulders.

TSN is reporting that Brendan Taman is set to meet with Craig Reynolds - Sask CEO - as early as tomorrow (Sunday) with the intent of having Corey Chamblin fired as head coach. Two names in the running for interim HC are LaPo and Benevides. Of the two, I would take LaPo any day - never have cottoned to Mikey. There is also chat about Reynolds hanging tough with this crew and cleaning house come fall with both Corey and Brendan hitting the road.

Not sure what to think of this development. Not happy with CC right now and after reading his comments at the airport today, I am even less enamored.

Question:" You know the fan base here and how emotional it is. Is there anything you’d like to say to them or is there anything they should hear from you?"

CC: “No, I’m not going down that road. The biggest thing is what you see is what you get. We’re still fighting and we’re going to fight until we get our change.”

Corey Chamblin’s comments at the airport | Regina Leader-Post

No? You have nothing to say to us? Well stuff you Corey. You have plenty to answer for and my first question would be why on earth can't you instill some discipline in these guys. Half way through the 1rst Q yesterday we had gifted the Esks with 40 yards. A player on the punt return team took 3 - 10 yard penalties alone. That is simply and completely unacceptable. There is something sadly amiss here. I don't believe you have control of the locker room anymore.

I honestly don't know what to think right now. I've never supported firing coaches this far into a season. The possibility of winning our next 13 games is all but impossible and with every loss our chance of a play-off berth diminishes. I am truly about ready to write this season off - have been here before and lived through it so I am sure I will this one too. At least that way I can kick back and just enjoy the game without any expectations what-so-ever.

He can't heal the injured. He's not Jesus.

It isn't the injured parties who are taking penalties. Yes, we have a problem with injuries but that doesn't change the fact that penalties are one of the main factors in the poor performance seen to date. All I want is for Corey to step up and do something about discipline. How hard can it be? Other coaches seem to be managing. Maybe he should consult with them. I really don't want to see Corey go, petros but I do want to see some real changes in the way the team is playing and only he can do that.

When having to open with practice players who aren't under the scrutiny of the game refs there will be penalties. Stupid ones, game losing ones and career ending injury ones.

Well it looks as though Corey escaped the ax and now he can go forward with getting this team in the winning mode - let's us sincerely hope.

On another CFL note, the Cats had a fabulous game against the Argos yesterday. They haven't lost a game at home yet this season. Rock on Ti-Cats.

I pretty much agree with the decision. If Chamblin can't turn the team around, maybe he does need to be fired, but the middle of the season is the wrong time for that, unless you have a very high degree of confidence you have another guy who will do better. I'm not as plugged in as you and petros, but I've been reading the website and the Regina newspaper, and I don't see a clearly better alternative.

BREAKING NEWS
REGINA (SASK) - Saskatchewan Roughriders football practice was delayed nearly two hours today after a player reported finding an unknown powdery substance on the practice field.
Head coach Corey Chamblin immediately suspended practice and called the police and federal investigators. After a complete analysis, Police forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to players was the GOAL LINE! Practice resumed after special agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again this season.

They will probably still end up ahead of BC.

Watching Esks vs Lions at BC Place. 48 seconds left in first half and BC is down 23 to 10. Lulay has one interception to his credit all ready and the BC D is nothing to write home about, Kreskin. Edmonton's biggest problem so far is penalties, other than that they seem to have a handle on the game.

23 - 17 for Esks with just over 7 minutes left in 3rd Q and Calvin McCarty just made a beautiful high-lite reel one-handed catch for a first down. BC playing better in this half - they made it to the end zone again.

Excellent second half comeback by the Lions - they really perked up and beat the Esks 26 to 23. Good win at home for the fans.

0-6. What more can you say?
"Season ain't over."

Not too long ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers were 1-6 after seven games (of a sixteen-game season). A motivational speech by Coach Bill Cowher, and some procedural changes (no significant changes to personnel or the system), led them to win the last nine games. They went into the playoffs at 10-6, and won the Super Bowl.
