Depends. When you are trying to sell multi million $$$$ condos in Hongcouver or protesting economic development it is pristine. When you have to bring a boat past Victoria it is a septic tank.

K+S is building a potash terminal in Pt. Moody. What will a potash spill do the pristine waters if a bulker goes down?

Economic development is one thing, I have nothing wrong people making a living
or exploring the use of their resources however when someone mentions boom,
I wonder it is a development boom or a plundering of the resource for a quick buck.
We have done too much of that. Like drugs, a serious boom brings wealth and
wealth brings gangs, additional drugs, organized crime and respectable people
cutting corners to stay competitive and make as much from the boom as they can.
BC saw this leaky condos, shabby construction in the Okanagan and and a plunder
of resources. Often as not the rules catch up to the destruction far too late. The
rules are tightened and the same people who were heroes for bringing jobs are
then the villains as society finds out what the cost of cleaning things up.
No I am not against growth we need it no I am not against developing resources we
need to do that too. What I am against is the fuzzy positive feeling that all is well in
a boom and they don't pay attention to the serious problems environmental, social
and economic until the boom slows down which is of course is much too late.
If its going to boom plan ahead to mitigate the adverse effect as much as possible,

Everything is growing. SK is extremely economically diverse. There won't be any slowing down in the long term either.

petros always be careful BC thought the economy would never slow down either
but economies always slow down at some point especially if resource demands
slow. I agree it will have a long run but it needs to take stock of where its going.
Alberta and BC both saw things go astray and BC has diversity as well but not
enough.

Resources aren't the bread and butter. Right now resource exports and manufacturing are choked and landlocked and just only starting to flow. Once AP Gateway and BC port projects are complete we'll be giving AB a run for the money on GDP per capita.

Not wishing to piss on your parade Grumpy but I'd say B.C. has the most diversity of any province- we have everything Alberta has- gas, oil, coal, cows, wheat, we also have fish, fruit, timber, virtually every metal from aluminum (I know we import it) to zinc. What we do have that we don't need is a bunch of friggin' hippies who are intent on killing any resource industry.

California is the place you outta be so load up the truck and move to Beverly.

Sounds like it's either drought or flood!
