Do the likes of England, France, Scotland and Italy have national war dances?

Oh well, nothing stopping them from making one up. Or are they incapable of doing that? Maybe the Scots can come out in blue face and do a Wallace on the opposing team.

Sucks to be you 2. This was a great article. Too bad ya's can't see past your own prejudices.

Did I? Oh well, I don't care. I have zero respect for this guy based upon all his previous very unpalatable behaviour and I'm sure as hell not to going to let one article change my opinion or attitude towards him. That would be hypocritical.

Actually, the hypocritical part would be the trolling when he is behaving. Never said you needed to change your "attitude" toward him. I'm not going to, I still consider him to be a puntz.

Sorry, don't see it that way. He gets back what he puts out there. And he certainly puts a hell of a lot of that out there. Why should he get to have a nice respectful thread when he doesn't offer that to anyone else? As far as I'm concerned he shouldn't. If you want to call that hypocritical, you go right ahead.

Barilko is another one who gets the same treatment and I'm not changing that either.

Ahhhhh...I see...... so no threads without trolling. Got it. it's one of those "he started it" <in the most whiney voice possible> things.

So yeah, back to the OP, The All Blacks are quite popular here in Australia as well. Besides the AFL (Australian Rules Football) Cricket and Rugby are very popular sports here.

One guy in the Car Repair Shop behind where I work is a big fan of the All Blacks to the point of customizing his ride on mower with black and white all over with me making various All Blacks decals for it, along with other decals for his car and another decal for his beer fridge.

As for their ritual before each game, I have no issue with it. If other teams feel intimidated by it while they hold each other's hands, that's their problem. If you're not passionate about the sport, you're not going to go far..... and the All Blacks are pretty passionate.

In the AFL, each team has their own Club Songs that they all sing after each victory.

I don't think singing songs together would work well in the NHL, but maybe some war cries and Maori Warrior stuff would be pretty cool..... so long as the players didn't fall on their azzes in the process.

Yanks took to Twitter to sing the praises of the brutal sport, with many of them also telling followers how they were left awestruck by the haka, the Maori war dance performed by the New Zealand All Blacks before the start of every match, which is very familiar to millions of people in the established rugby union nations but was something which seemed to take the Americans by surprise.

My dad, sister, and I went to see a baseball tournament a couple of years ago. There were teams from all over, including one from New Zealand. They also performed the haka, and it was actually quite an amazing sight to behold. I'm getting chills just remembering it right now as I am typing this. They ended up winning that year, and they were an entertaining team to watch. I have a t-shirt of theirs that I bought, it looks quite sharp.

Their Team Captain was retiring that year, and after they won the tournament the entire team lined up to greet him and put their foreheads to his (which is a sign of respect). That was also a sight to behold, as it is not something that most people will see in their lifetime.

If they did that, the opposing team's players would just roll around on the pitch laughing their tits off.

Rugby League is THE most popular sport in Australia. It's the national sport. The Aussies' favourite game. The NFL is far more popular than the AFL and is, in fact, the most popular Rugby League league in the world. Even England and France's Super League comes nowhere near the NFL.

Here are the two tries scored by former heavyweight boxer Sonny Bill Williams against USA.

New Zealand face much sterner opposition on Saturday: England at Twickenham.

England v New Zealand – QBE Autumn Internationals 2014
Twickenham Stadium
Saturday 8th November 2014

New Zealand are the World Champions and are ranked first in the world rankings, whereas England are ranked third in the world rankings (with South Africa in second). Ladbrokes also make New Zealand the 5/4 favourites to win the Rugby World Cup in England next year for the third time, with host nation England the 3/1 second favourites to win it for the second time. However, New Zealand have never won the Rugby World Cup outside of New Zealand, with their victories in 1987 and 2011 coming on home soil, whereas England's World Cup success in 2003 came at the home of their arch-enemy Australia.

I'm not denying that the haka is a great thing to see, especially if you see it in the flesh rather than just on telly. It's one of the sporting sights to behold. I'm just with those people who believe that it gives New Zealand an unfair advantage, just as the equivalent war dances for Samoa and Tonga give them an unfair advantage.

Lots of opponents don't even respect the haka anymore. Nowadays the English try all they can to disrupt it and make it into a damp squib. In 2008 the England fans at Twickenham drowned out the haka by singing a rousing rendition of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, a song which has been associated with Rugby Union for decades but had been mainly adopted by the England fans as their own since the late Eighties:

I always thought it was silly when one of my twins would cry "she started it" when they were young children. When people that are supposed to be adults do it, it's rather pathetic.

Royal Scots Dragoon Guards tank driver Semesa Rokoduguni, who is from Fiji, is one of the new faces in the England team to face the New Zealand All Blacks at Twickenham on Saturday. Rokoduguni, 27, qualifies for the England team as he is a member of the British Army.

George Kruis and Anthony Watson are also expected to make their England debuts on Saturday.

England team to play New Zealand: Semesa Rokoduguni to make international debut

Bath wing will make his first England start against the All Blacks, with George Kruis and Anthony Watson in line to make their debuts from the bench at Twickenham

Stuart Lancaster, the England head coach, says Semesa Rokoduguni has earned the right to make his debut in the starting XV to face New Zealand at Twickenham on Saturday on the back of his impressive form for Bath this season.

Rokoduguni, who is from Fiji, qualifies for England as he is a serving member of the British Army. The 27 year-old, who is a lance-corporal in the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, will make his international debut just two years after joining Bath.

Rokoduguni is one of seven Bath players named in the 23-man squad and joins club-mate Anthony Watson and Saracens lock George Kruis, who are both named among the replacements, as three uncapped players in the squad

Bath lock Dave Attwood, whose fiancée Bridget gave birth to their first child on Tuesday, starts his first Test for England since the tour to Argentina in June 2013 while Kyle Eastmond also starts at inside centre in a new-look midfield with Saracens’ Brad Barritt, who starts at 13.

In the pack, a back row of Tom Wood, captain Chris Robshaw and No.8 Billy Vunipola makes its seventh start as a combination. Finally, George Kruis will also make his international bow if he enters the fray from the replacements' bench.

“I am delighted for Roko,” Lancaster said. “Wing is an extremely competitive position but he has pushed himself forward with his form this season and it’s great to be able to give him this opportunity.

“The same is true with Anthony Watson and George Kruis. I am sure they will contribute should they come off the bench.

“Dave Attwood has had an eventful week with the birth of his first child and congratulations to him and his fiancée Bridget. He’s back with us now and will be ready to go for Saturday.”

Saturday’s match will be the first for England at Twickenham since they defeated Ireland 13-10 in the Six Nations last season and Lancaster added: “The atmosphere is superb and the fans really give us a boost. We can’t wait for the walk from the coach to the changing room for what will be another great occasion.”

England, the team ranked three in the world, put in a good performance against World Champions and number one ranked team in the world New Zealand in front of a crowd of 82,223 at a rain-soaked Twickenham on Saturday, but suffered a narrow defeat in what was the first of England's Autumn Internationals.

Despite the narrow defeat, the brave performance will give them confidence in their next match, which is against world number two South Africa at Twickenham on Saturday. England will be without their new boy, British Army tank driver Semesa Rokoduguni, who sustained a hip injury in his England debut against New Zealand.
