John Keating: Language was developed for one endeavor, and that is - Mr. Anderson? Come on, are you a man or an amoeba?
[pause]
John Keating: Mr. Perry?
Neil: To communicate.
John Keating: No! To woo women!

"I'm Rainbow ****ing Randolph"
Cop: Are you ok?

Randolph: I don't know. I'm kind of ****ed up in general so it's hard to gauge.
Death to Smoochy

Miranda: What happened?
Mrs. Doubtfire: He was quite fond of the drink. It was the drink that killed him.
Miranda: How awful. He was an alcoholic?
Mrs. Doubtfire: No, he was hit by a Guinness truck.
Mrs. Doubtfire

Host: What brought you from Chicago to Detroit?
[in the meaning of WHY did you move from Chicago to Detroit]

I still wish this is a bad dream. He made me laugh and helped make my life a positive one. Suicide is the worst way to go for a man who had so much to live for. R.I.P. Robin Williams I will miss you.

I was stunned upon hearing of this and am still shaking my head. The man was an absolute master of comedy and would go to any length to get people to laugh such as this from 1980:

I just cannot believe that this tragic news is true.

Life can be pretty hard sometimes. I guess everyone has their fair share of pain and sadness. There are though places that maybe for just a moment or two, you can go and put the sadness aside and experience joy and laughter and a sense of the things that really matter in life. Robin Williams was one of those places. Feeling kind of sad today. Really liked the guy.

Wow, I'm shocked. Just yesterday I was watching some of his old stand up comedy. One of the best of all time.

loved all of his movies, but he did seem like a complicated individual, that mind of his worked

way too fast, that must have been a chore to look after. i wonder if he knew how to relax.

sincere thoughts to his family, it is so sad for them.

Old school and one of the best improv performers. I think Jonathan Winters was one of his mentors.

Also, I'm always at somewhat of a loss when those with 'fame and fortune' are said to have been suffering from depression. Emotional and mental pain is relative. I assume he hanged himself from what I've read.

I think there is a lot of insecurity with comedians, anyone in the entertainment business really but comedians especially. Jokes serve to hide a lot of pain. When it comes to the 'fame and fortune' part, I think the drive they have is not to acquire the fame or the fortune, but to deliver them from their own internal suffering. But it's kind of a fools errand, no amount of money or fame will make you feel better about yourself.

I wonder too sometimes if they (comedians) feel an added pressure to always be funny and charming and entertaining because that's what people have come to expect from them. I think maybe they might sometimes get lost in their own persona.

If that's the case then Jim Carrey is fk'd.

He may well be.

“People think they know you,” he said, grimacing slightly.

“They expect you to be literally like you are on TV or in the movies, bouncing off the walls. A woman in an airport once said to me, ‘Be zany!’ The weird thing is now with all these cellphones with cameras, they’ll say, ‘May I take a picture of you?’ and you’ll say, ‘Fine.’

“And then they’ll say, ‘C’mon, smile!’ And I go, ‘I am smiling ...’ At that point you want to go, ‘Back off!’ Because they want something else. Do something goofy!”

Not to suggest that the above is in any way reason to take your own life, but I can definitely see where things like that would get to you to the point where he, as many others, turn to alcohol and drugs. And fighting addictions, especially if you feel like you're losing the battle, can definitely be a factor in the compulsion to commit suicide.
