There is an odd thing about televangelists. They get so drowned in influence and the power they enjoy over their following, they become convinced often that they are chosen by God............so anything they do is all right.........they do believe, they can't even see the conflict.

I used to watch Jimmy Swaggart on occassion, not because I am that religious, but because I was fascinated by his oratory, his skill at influencing a crowd.....the dramatic pauses, the animation......the guy was a master!
Oral Roberts, Jimmy Swaggart, Tammy and Jim Bakker, theives and liars, con-men (and con-woman) who while doing some good works, bilked the "believer" with every breath taken while counting the donations.
Death is a part of life. You start dying the moment you are born.
It's what you do with your life and whatever "purpose" you sculpt for yourself that determines the legacy you leave to those who follow.
If your "purpose" your "calling" is to care for the sick and dying, to minister to the poor and the hopeless to do what you can to help those less fortunate than yourself, this is indeed a noble undertaking.
If your "purpose" your "calling" is to use someone else's "beliefs" to coerce through fear and mollify through promise that demands nothing of you.....while you highjack the human spirit in the name of air-conditioned dog houses and consumption on the scale of kings and princes....you are at the most basic and fundamental level, a charlatan and a liar.....regardless of what you "believe".
I have less difficulty with infidelity among the TV evangelists, since I never expected them to demonstrate anything other than the fabric of lies they embrace as "belief" as their "calling". It shouldn't suprise anyone really.
Now that the Pope has settled the argument...Only the Catholic Church is the One True Faith....all others are well.....
It's the same with pedophiles and womanizers in the Catholic Church, this marketplace for the voodoo witchcraft and smoke and mirrors in the name of "god" is bound to happen. When the icons of belief, the preacher the priest and the Rabbi demonstrate that their convictions their "beliefs" don't have enough influence or strength to overcome the sinfulness of their chanted messages and chorus of how bad sinful and doomed everyone is who doesn't subscribe to the same nonsense...personally, the message couldn't be more clear.
A system of graft and theft legitimized as "government" has some checks and balances...never enough and never given the authority to mete-out consequence....but an invisible never seen, creator being who will hold you accountable after you're worm-food has only the strength of conviction that can be summoned for tooth-fairies and unicorns.
Tammy Faye Bakker or whatever the hell the particular mask might be at any given time...(pun intended) deserves nothing. Nothing from any of us, but if there is this great invisible never-present but always present "god" then how can there be any doubt that the Bakker reunion will take place where weeny roasts and marshmallows toasted to a golden brown are the daily fare...?
If slime like any of these televangelists really expect to get to heaven...that's a miracle!
