I used to be in the news business and it is sad to see the way it has changed to become little more
than meaningless drivel. At one time news was new, as in information and facts that had impact on
peoples lives in one fashion or another. Today we have to have entertainment news mixed in because
the average viewer or listener has the attention span of a Nat. MSNBC has a credibility problem, but
so does FOX. Their news outlet is about entertainment and distorted fairytales, Anne Coulter, and the
super hero Glen Beck are little more than clowns. CNN they cater to the news for dummies crowd.
Graphs and optics create attention span extension instead of substance. There are so many of what
they call commentators who don't have the slightest idea of what news is. Most of them come from the
trenches of the right and left political wars, or former correspondents in the twilight of their careers.
Many of the old commentators are faces from the past and they are on TV because people still have
a vague memory of who they are. You know, hey I know that guy, can't remember from where but I
know i have heard and seen him before somewhere.
When the hell are we going to grow up and go look for facts on our own, or open our minds to listen to
ideas from right and left, and figure out what might work. We all listen to the gobble de gook that is
passed out like pablum to be consumed as fact. We all do it. We call people idiots and ten years
from now we will quote them for their wisdom. What we need to demand from politicians is respect.
We expect them to go to the seat of government, respect themselves and their opponents and get
down to the business of working with each other for our collective benefit and not their own.
Not every right wing idea is a bad one, and the same goes for the left. The trouble we are all in and the
time frame we have to get out of the mess is too limited to engage in the crap that has been going on.
Think this is America's problem think again. If America can't afford to buy, we have no one to sell things
too. It is time to become the adults we tell our children we are, and that means behaving like adults
and that is hard to do when it comes to politics
